Top 10 Foods to Add Your Bucket List

We all know that food is good, but, sadly, you don’t have time to eat them all. Here are the top 10 you should make a point to try while you still have the time! 

The Cronut – NYC

Cronuts: part croissant, part doughnut, completely delicious. Cronuts are the insanely creative dessert-breakfast pastry hybrid sweeping the nation. Their flavors range from lychee rose and pistachio (pictured above) to blackberry lime.

They started at Dominique Ansel Bakery in the Soho neighborhood of NYC and have only become more popular from there; shoutout to Dunkin for trying to make their own so that even us non-New Yorkers can have a taste.

This cronut is a real crowd pleaser *sung to the tune of Black Beatles*, so beware of them being sold out. It means an early start to your day but for a cronut, it’s so worth it. 

In-n-Out – Hollywood, LA

Animal style or protein style? Californians know exactly what this means when they roll up to California’s first drive-thru hamburger stand. Eaters can enjoy cheeseburgers, hamburgers, fries, and shakes. And don’t forget the not-so-secret menu full of tips and tricks to show the cute surfer boy/girl in line behind you that you’re not a total tourist. You’ll get a killer meal and maybe even a few digits. 

Beignets – New Orleans

Bringing it down south to tell y’all about these little pockets of powder sugar heaven. New Orleans is home to the po’ boy and gumbo but also to the famous beignet.

All you foodies know that a trip to the Mardi Gras capital means you are going to the home to the life-changing beignets, found at the famous Café du Monde. I would recommend ordering a few because once you have one, there’s no way you’ll wanna share. These beignets are a total staple on your food bucket list, I mean what’s not to love?

Deep dish pizza – Chicago

Lou Malnati’s is the best deep-dish in Chicago, but don’t just take my word for it ask anyone from the Windy City, they all agree. Deep-dish pizza is like having the best of both worlds, channel your inner Hannah Montana I know you have one. It’s pie filled with melty, gooey mozzarella cheese, but also a pizza.

Honestly, if that hasn’t sold you, I don’t know what will. And don’t forget, when you get a slice out of the pan, boomerang that cheese and make all your foodie friends super jealous. 

Tacos – Austin 

Taco Town, USA- the home of the country’s best tacos and tex mex eats. There are more taco restaurants than people tbh, but Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ is a taco-lovers dream.

Foodies can choose from a wide variety of tacos ranging from breakfast tacos filled with bacon, eggs, and cheese or smoked brisket tacos (pictured on the right). No matter what taco you get, you can’t go wrong, just make sure you get there before they’re all sold out! I don’t know about y’all but Taco Town seems like a place I’d be very happy living in. 

Philly cheesesteak – Philly

Wit or wit-out? If you have no idea what this means, you’re not alone. Pat’s King of Steaks will teach you exactly how to order your steak while sounding like a true Philly fanatic. Wit or wit-out means do you want onions or not (personally, I recommend onions).

Then, you gotta decide what cheese you want- whiz or not. Make sure you know what you want before you get it or you’ll be dealing with a lot of hungry Philly people and you don’t wanna mess with that. Personally, I think Pat’s is the best and I’m ready to fight anyone who thinks Geno’s is better. I mean Pat’s has been around since 1930, how can you beat that? 

Cupcakes – DC

Georgetown Cupcakes are home to some of the best cupcakes in the DC area. That’s why the line is forever long and the instas are guaranteed to be one of your most-liked. The cupcakes not only photograph well, as pictured above, but they also taste amazing.

According to the sisters that own the joint, their red velvet is a fan-favorite (middle left). But honestly, every flavor is amazing and they are constantly changing based on the season, month, and even day. There are even gluten-free options for all you gluten-free foodies. Jump in line and make sure you stay because these cupcakes are seriously so worth the wait. 

Clam Chowder – Boston 

If you’re a sea-foodie like me, Neptune Oyster in Bos is the place for you. Specifically, their clam chowder rivals any you’ve ever had. It is made to order so be sure to get that first and don’t even think about sharing, you won’t want to.

Don’t forget to try their oysters and other raw bar eats, you seriously wont have any #ragrets. And now you can love New England for more reasons other than the fact that Tom Brady lives there. 

Hot chicken –  Nashville 

Welcome to the south y’all. If you make it down to Nashville and don’t visit Hattie B’s, I feel sorry for you. Hattie B’s is a hot chicken go-to. They have tons of options for chicken and sides. And on Sundays, they have chicken and waffles.

Be sure to pick a spice level you can handle and experience real southern eats. If you’re really feeling it, check out their merch and show all your friends how hot chicken is done. 

Poké – Honolulu

Hawaiian food is so underrated, especially poké. Poké is a new trendy dish mainlanders have finally caught onto. Poké is essentially sushi in a bowl and honestly, that sounds like my kind of food. At Da Hawaiian Poké Company, you can choose from a few different type of bowls or even make your own. The result is a beautiful bowl of seafood or tofu and all the toppings you could want. It’s even more instagram-able when you hold it up over a Hawaiian beach. Get ready to reel in the likes while giving Hawaiian food a chance. 

Your food bucket list should have all of these foods and so many more. So no matter which one of these foods you try first, try to get to them all. Each place has something unique and exciting to offer. Traveling the world and eating the most delicious foods the U.S. has, what’s better than that?
