Cadbury Releases Oreo Creme Egg, Melts Hearts of Classic Candy Lovers

If 2016 didn’t have you planning your move to Canada, this definitely will. That’s right, Canadians can get their hands on Cadbury’s newest creation: the Cadbury Oreo egg. Filled with what looks like Oreo crème and bits of cookie, Canadians are going crazy over Cadbury’s latest egg.

Although the Cadbury Oreo egg has been available in Canada for the past year, it’s just now gaining immense popularity on social media. In contrast to the brightly colored purple, red, and yellow packaging of Cadbury Creme Eggs (which Americans thankfully can buy in stores), the new Oreo egg is wrapped in blue plastic to help prevent the chocolate from breaking.

Brits have also been able to buy this sweet treat for a year or so and can choose from large or mini Oreo eggs. I don’t hold a grudge against them though, since Cadbury is a British company after all.

Australians also have access to the Oreo egg, except the Aussie version is filled with vanilla mousse. The jury’s still out on whether this version of the egg is better than the one filled with Oreo crème.

The Cadbury Oreo egg will likely be immensely popular in Australia, if the success of McDonald’s Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry last year is an indicator. The McFlurry had smashed up Creme Eggs blended with its soft serve ice cream—yet another delicious treat the US never experienced.

At this point, there’s really only one option for desperate Americans dying to try the Cadbury Oreo egg: move to Canada and send the eggs back in bulk for the rest of us (you think I’m kidding?).

In all seriousness though, I sincerely hope Cadbury has major plans for a new US product. While the Cadbury Creme Egg is somewhat of a British icon, Americans are equally addicted to the dessert.

Can’t buy the Oreo egg but want to suppress your cravings? Try making one of these Oreo-filled desserts. If you close your eyes, you might be able to convince yourself you’re biting into a Cadbury Oreo Egg (good luck with that).
