While touring college is important, so is the food you try along the way. The touring process can be long and tiring, and there is no better way to reward yourself than eating some good food.
Recently, I toured Cornell University and tasted a ton of great food the school and town have to offer. Not only did I love the beautiful campus, but the variety of food options were awesome. Here are some of the best places to try if your time in Ithaca is limited.
Breakfast: Carriage House Cafe
Just minutes away from campus, this is the perfect place to begin your day. This place was voted Best Brunch in Ithaca, and I can certainly agree with this. Fuel up and prepare for a long day of touring and info sessions at Cornell.
Lunch: Collegetown Bagels
There’s just nothing like a NY bagel. This is one of the most popular places for lunch, because it is just off of campus. On your walk here, you can enjoy views of the Gorges on campus. This is a quick and easy lunch to grab if you are in a hurry to a tour, or if you just want to maximize your time on campus.
Dinner: Taverna Banfi
This restaurant is inside the Statler Hotel, the hotel on Cornell’s campus. This is especially interesting because students from the School of Hotel Administration work inside the hotel and the restaurant, along with professionals. You have a view of campus from the tables inside the restaurant, and this is the perfect way to close up a day of touring and, of course, eating.
Dessert: Cornell Dairy Bar
Yes, Cornell even has its own Dairy Bar on campus. Stop by and get some ice cream as either a mid-day snack or dessert at the end of the night. Some of the flavors are created and named by students, for example Big Red Bear Tracks (vanilla ice cream and chocolate cake chunks with Cookies and Cream).
I successfully fulfilled my goal of touring Cornell University and Ithaca in just one day. Not only did I see the school, I also spent time touring around Ithaca and the Gorges, and I, of course, can’t forget about all of the great food on and off campus.
