5 Invigorating Detox Water Recipes for Healthy Hydration

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at FSU chapter.

Summer is here and it is more important than ever to hydrate! Sometimes giving up your sugary sodas, sports drinks and juices can be difficult, especially if you think plain water is too, well, plain. Or maybe your partied the night before, and you need an invigorating kick-in-the-rear the next morning. Have no fear! Get your water and pizzazz at the same time with these fruity detox waters.

Fruit-infused detox water is great, because it consists of only fruit and herbs. They’re inexpensive and there is no added sugar or sweeteners- only the natural goodness that comes from the fruit. Sip something delicious and feel lively and refreshed too.

For maximum flavor, be sure to press any herbs with your finger (this helps release some juices) and cut up any fruit. I recommend slicing any citrus, cutting larger berries in half and cubing other fruits. Don’t cut anything too small or you’ll find yourself swallowing an uninvited piece of berry debris.

Depending on your ingredients, you can satisfy your sweet cravings, and chug some good-for-you stuff too. Adding citrus will give you a dose of Vitamin C, and boost your immune system. Toss in some berries to give yourself some antioxidants. The herbs add ultimate refreshment, and make your kitchen smell delightful.

The only downside is that you won’t receive ALL of the health benefits of the fruit (like fiber) by drinking the water, unless you ate the fruit afterwards. Be warned: some fruits that you might use might be incredibly mushy after sitting in your water.

Grab your glass, pitcher, or Mason jar and enjoy some happy hydration.
