This Cooking Show Is Co-Hosted by a Dog, and It’s Fantastic

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Ithaca chapter.

“Cooking with Dog” is the new Youtube cooking show sensation featuring Francis, who is the host of the show (and also happens to be a Toy Poodle), alongside his co-host who is a mysteriously unnamed, yet very cheerful-looking Japanese woman.

The show primarily shows the unnamed co-host making various traditional and modern Japanese recipes, while Francis sits calmly in his dog bed, watching the host cook everything from Japanese-syle Pancakes to Teriyaki Chicken Pizza.

What sets this cooking show apart, besides the obvious dog aspect, is that the neither host speaks at all during the show; it is narrated by an individual with a thick Japanese accent who details the step-by-step process of making each recipe, that is accompanied by subtitles at the bottom of the screen.

Although the woman shows off serious cooking chops in making the dishes, Francis appears to just sit and watch. He even goes as far as to shut his eyes and sleep momentarily while his counterpart labors intensely over each recipe.

I’m sure many viewers are disappointed that Francis himself refrains from doing any cooking, however, his presence alone provides cuteness that is enough appeal for dog-lovers around the world to tune in.

Whether you enjoy Japanese cuisine, dogs, or both, I encourage you to check out “Cooking with Dog” and enjoy the quirky-cuteness that is sure to put a smile on your face.
