Top 5 Ways to Super Snacks Right

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Bowdoin chapter.

It’s a Thursday night. You’re sitting in your room in a groutfit and the salad you had for dinner 5 hours ago really isn’t cutting it. You could do pub, but you do have an extra meal swipe left…Super Snacks. It’s a Friday or Saturday night. Baxter was a bust, but you don’t want to call it a night before 1 am, because that’s just lame. Super Snacks.

Super Snacks is almost always the play, but it helps if you have some ideas up your sleeve, just in case the hot food they’re serving is something like this:

Try out some of these ideas to ensure you’re satisfied with your fourth meal.

1. Homemade Ice-cream Sandwich

This sounds ambitious, but it’s actually not. Snag two cookies (ideally soft, but knowing Bowdoin they’ll probably be hard as rocks). Head over to the soft serve machine and put a good swirl on the bottom cookie. Top with the other cookie. Voila. If you’re feeling fancy, roll the sides in sprinkles or top with some whipped cream.

#Spoontip if you’re gluten-free head over to the gluten-free fridge and snag some cookies from there or whip up some g-free cookies at home with stolen peanut butter from the dining hall.

2. Nachos

Don’t make the rookie mistake of using the provided nacho cheese. You want the real good cheesy stuff. We all know everyone loves cheese and you don’t want to hold back here. Pile your plate with tortilla chips and then head over to the blocks of cheese intended for cheese and crackers. Put on more than you think is necessary.

Microwave until it’s poppin’ and bubblin’. Yum. Be careful when you take the plate out of the microwave because it will be super HOT. Top with a scoop of salsa and a dollop of sour cream if you’re feeling it.

3. Deluxe Hot Chocolate

For those frigid February nights when the coat you drank is wearing off, head over to the hot chocolate machine. Fill your cup up about two-thirds of the way, leaving room for the excessive amount of marshmallows you’re about to stuff into the mug. After topping with marshmallows top those with at least a 10 second swirl of whipped cream. Drizzle with chocolate sauce and enjoy.

4. Grilled Cheese

We’re pretty sure bread and cheese are a match made in heaven. Whether you’re drunk and need to carbo-load or just craving something warm and delicious, you really can’t go wrong with grilled cheese. Normally Bowdoin dining knows what’s up and has grilled cheese, but if not you can always make your own.

5. Cereal
