Don’t let your crippling college debt affect your partying. We’ve compiled a list of what to drink when your bank account is feeling down. Drinking responsibly doesn’t mean that you have to skimp on taste, and we took that into consideration, too. There’s alcohol for every occasion, so open the bottle, sit back, and take a look at how to save money while not losing out on taste.
Beer: Rolling Rock
Don’t worry, you don’t have to settle for Keystone; Rolling Rock tastes better and is around the same price. It’s smooth and light, and even in bottles it’s not that expensive, either. Depending on where you live, a pack of 18 bottles of Rolling Rock goes for around $13 and around $21 for a pack of 30 cans.
Champagne: Barefoot Bubbly
Yes, you’re dream has come true. Barefoot, who traditionally only made wine, has broadened their market and makes champagne now. There’s 11 different kinds, meaning that there’s at least one for every day in the week. Learn some tricks to make cheap champagne better to amp up your next party.
Tequila: Milagro
Okay, I’m personally not a fan of tequila, but Milagro is good. For the most part, tequila is pretty expensive, but depending on where you are, you can get a bottle for as little as $23. That’s not bad considering how much money you’re going to spend fighting the hangover.
Rum: Cruzan
You’ve probably seen this in the liquor store before; there are tons of flavors and they have really colorful bottles. Roughly $9 a bottle, it doesn’t bust the bank either. At your next soiree, don’t be afraid to save some money with Cruzan, and try some new rum recipes that you haven’t made yet that will impress your guests.
Wine: Beringer
I could just be biased because this is my favorite wine, but this stuff is amazing. It’s only $7 a bottle, and there’s so many flavors. You can serve this wine at dinner, or bring it to a house party. It’s an all around good wine and it won’t hurt your bank account this weekend.
Vodka: Svedka
This is a crowd favorite; I know that pretty much everyone that steps into a liquor store has seen or tried this. There’s a reason for that – it’s cheap and tasty. There’s around ten different flavors, and a 750 mL is only $14 (they even can go on sale). This gives you the most bang for your buck, it’s better than your typical cheap alcohol, and it has more variety. Learn how to make a shot that doesn’t even need a chaser for your next night out.
Whiskey: Southern Comfort
Commonly referred to as “SoCo,” it is a fan favorite among frugal partiers. It’s typically on sale, which is amazing for us college kids, but there are also a bunch of different kinds. It’s around $12 a bottle, so feel free to pick up a few flavors, but don’t forget to share with your friends.
There’s the list, kids. Enjoy drinking as a college student and having enough extra cash for pizza after the party. I hope that you have learned something new, and will try a different drink in the near future. Remember to drink responsibly, you’re already on your way by saving money.
