Need a place to eat on campus? Well Ole Miss has got you covered. Yes, we might not be known for our food and, come on, it’s college food….we all get tired of it eventually. But we have a few gems. So here’s my list of the best places to eat on campus. All these places around campus accept Meal (debating on your meal plan), Plus 1, express, flex, cash and credit card.
1. The Grill at 1810
The best place to eat on campus if you’re asking me. Located behind Vaught-Hemingway in The Manning Center. Originally as a place for the athletes to eat, it was opened up to students. Every Tuesday is steak night and you can’t miss Taco Thursday on Thursday nights. The cheese burgers are to die for and so are the smoothies. You can’t go wrong with eating at The Grill. Oh and if you go don’t be surprised if you see Chad Kelly, Hugh Freeze or Ross Bjork.
2. Canes
Canes is located inside to right of the doors in the new Pavilion. In its short time of being on campus, I would consider Canes to be better than Chick-Fil-A (sorry not sorry). Coming from someone who doesn’t have Canes back home, I was hesitant to try it because CFA has always had my heart. Well I’m obsessed. I could go anytime for their chicken, bread and the canes sauce. It’s a perfect combo of all three things.
3. Steak ‘n Shake
Also located inside the new Pavilion but located to the left when you enter, Steak ‘n Shake originally known for its burgers and shakes, this place is really good no matter what you order. Their french fries (and cheese fries too) are amazing and delicious. They have a long list of shakes that you can order and they’re all delicious. This is a good place to go eat with friends after class.
4. Papa Johns
Located in the bottom in the POD of Minor Hall, Papa Johns is probably one of the best places to eat and one of the worst just because you’ll get addicted. They offer a variety of pizzas and a “make your own pizza.” Chicken wings and cheese sticks are among some of the other things offered. It’s opened til 2am and is probably one of the best places to go for late night food on campus.
5. The Union Restaurants
I’m grouping them all together since they’re so many of them. Chick-Fil-A is probably one of the most popular ones (especially in the morning). Toss it up is also really good but sadly is seems like its always closed when you want it. They offer many types of sandwiches and salads. Subway is tied with CFA on popularity. I’ve always had to wait in line when going there. It’s the healthiest option among Union restaurants. And you can’t ever go wrong with Subway.
Qudoba has my heart. It’s the closest thing we have to Chipotle but personally I think it works. You can get a bowl or burrito. They also have cheese dip and it’s amazing. Panda Express is the last option of places to eat in the Union. I’ve personally never had it before but I’ve heard it’s wonderful. It’s the only Chinese place offered on campus for food.
6. The Rebel Market
More commonly known as the “JC” because of the location it used to be in. The JC is a place most freshman will go until they discover The Grill. It works and is good for a little bit but it get old soon. Their breakfast is my favorite thing though. Every Tuesday and Thursday morning they have donuts. Wednesday nights they have grilled cheese bar on the stir-fry area. The sushi at the JC is actually good too.
This is my list in order of the best places to eat on campus. Try some of them out and you will be pleasantly surprised.
