Four Weeks: Four Local Food Trucks

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at TAMU chapter.

On the list for week two of our food truck series is MESS Waffles, Etc. This truck, next to Mickey’s Sliders on Lamar Street, is the perfect stop for those looking for freshly made waffles, double battered fried chicken, and creamy mac & cheese.

I tried their “Original”: chicken and waffles – an awesome balance of soft and crunchy with just the right amount spice, drizzled with a generous amount of a maple aioli sauce.  Although the maple aioli is the fan favorite sauce for this meal, they also have grade-A maple syrup and honey mustard.

If you aren’t in the mood for chicken and waffles, MESS also has macaroni & cheese that’s topped with red pepper flakes and (optional) Buffalo chicken – creamy, spicy, crunchy, and great for lunch any time.

The best thing about MESS Waffles, however, is their dessert waffle. To keep you coming back, the flavor of this waffle changes every week. These are waffles in their sweet natural habitat topped with everything from peanut butter and chocolate to caramelized apples and ice cream.

#SpoonTip: Check out their social media pages to find out the flavor of the week!

Aggie owned and operated, MESS Waffles, Etc. celebrated their second year at Texas A&M last week. If the line is any indication, this truck is already a campus favorite.

Kaylee is a senior Animal Science major with a minor in Communications at Texas A&M. When she's not in class, she's taking photos, planning events, watching Netflix, and drinking lots of coffee.
