An Obituary to Cafe Freret

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Tulane chapter.

If you haven’t heard yet, after 11 years of serving Tulane students and local families alike, Cafe Freret has closed its doors. This closure brings sad news to the entire uptown community. From their range of Eggs Benedict variations to mile high sandwiches, Cafe Freret will be deeply missed. According to owner Carl Guidroz, there were “a number of problems” that forced this joint to close its doors.

Let’s join in a moment of silent for burgers like this:

Cafe Freret, you were the perfect place for a hungover brunch with friends, a comfortable spot to study outside, and a friendly corner for the uptown community. You will be deeply missed by the students of Tulane, and the larger New Orleans community as a whole. Rest in peace.
