In time for the holiday season, bakeries are overwhelmed with orders for christmas cookie trays. As you are busy trying to get together with friends and family, buy gifts, and stay in the holiday spirt. If you’re in a pinch and forgot a cookie tray for the party, here are three bakeries I found in Providence and the surrounding area with prepackaged Christmas cookie trays.
1. LaSalle Bakery
This was the first bakery I hit on my list. When I asked if they had Christmas cookie trays, the gentleman behind the counter said they make them more personalized as Christmas gets closer. For now, they have a tray of 24 sugar cookies, decorated with sprinkles, cut out as stars, stockings, and various shapes for $26.99. I didn’t buy a cookie tray, because, well I’m a college student. I did try 2 sugar cookies, a gingerbeadman, 2 butter ball cookies, and as a little bonus to myself, a red velvet cupcake all for about $12. This cupcake was huge. The bottom of the cupcake was about the size of my palm, so I don’t think the price was bad. They also have gingerbread houses, or you can buy a plain gingerbread cookie with premade icing, which I is a great idea for young children and adults alike.
Overall thought:
I highly recommend a visit. LaSalle is a place you should check out at least once, for Christmas cookies or not.
2. Scialo Bros. Bakery
Scialo Bros. is located on Federal Hill, the Little Italy of Providence. There are two huge display windows that have a bunch of Christmas decorated cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. Since this is located in Federal Hill, of course Scialo Bros. has classic Italian pastries. They had a two pound Christmas cookie tray with assorted pastries for around $49, which was too expensive for me, as a college student. I got some of the cookies that were on the tray, such as butter cookies dipped in chocolate, coconut macaroons, chocolate macaroons, and butter balls for about $17.
Overall thought:
If you like classic Italian pastries for Christmas then this is the place for you! If I have the money, I recommend buying a Christmas cookie tray from Scialo Bros. I still recommend to checking it out regardless.
3. Scrumptions
This was one of the last bakeries I checked off my list, and the biggest store yet. They had many display cakes placed throughout the store, a table for cake consultations, and had 11 awards on display for “Best of Weddings.” Along with pastries, they also had candy canes and a display case of chocolates. They have Christmas cookies already together in boxes and trays in a variety of sizes, from half-pounds all the way to a 5-pound tray. On the Christmas cookie trays, there are also chocolates. Something unique about this bakery is that they had cookies decorated for Hanukah in half pound boxes, which none of the other bakeries had.
Overall thought:
I highly recommend to visit for some Christmas cookies.
No matter my opinions, you will have to go check out these fantastic bakeries. You won’t regret your decision.
