Hanukkah is right around the corner this year, from December 6th to the 14th. Thank God that little bit of oil went such a long way so we can take a break from finals studying and binge on everything fried for 8 days.
Whether you’re Jewish or not, head to these favorite Atlanta spots during Hanukkah to try all the classics like latkes, brisket, and jelly donuts.
1. Alon’s Bakery and Market
If Alon’s isn’t already one of your go-to spots around campus, you’re doing it wrong. The little market bakes artisan breads and pastries in addition to serving great sandwiches, salads, and other fresh foods. Every year Alon’s offers a special Hanukkah menu with enough brisket, kugel, latkes, sufganiyot (jelly donuts), rugelach, and more to last you all 8 nights.
2. General Muir
General Muir is a New York style Jewish Deli located conveniently at Emory Point. From December 6th to the 14th, they will be adding four different latke platters to their usual menu. Class it up by trying the smoked salmon over latkes with arugula and lemon or the latkes poutine with cheese curds, chicken gravy, and pastrami. On the last night of Hanukkah, they are offering a special prix fixe menu featuring latkes, short ribs, and sufganiyot with apple butter.
3. Bagel Palace Deli & Bakery
I don’t think I’m enough of a Jewish stereotype. A photo posted by Sara Faber (@srfaber) on Jul 4, 2015 at 10:35am PDT
Bagel Palace in Toco Hills serves latkes all year long in addition to their full menu of bagel platters and breakfasts. Treat yourself one night of Hanukkah and get the beef brisket on a bed of three latkes for a winning combo. Check out the menu here.
4. Goldberg’s Bagel Co. and Deli
Goldberg’s Bagel Co is also in Toco Hills and serves all your classic deli favorites and breakfast dishes on their regular menu. They are offering a special Hanukkah menu with latkes, matzo ball soup, stuffed cabbage rolls, kugel, and more.
5. Sprinkles Cupcakes
While they may not be a classic Hanukkah dessert, Sprinkles cupcakes are worth the stretch. This year from December 6th to the 14th Sprinkles is offering a special Hanukkah box with red velvet, vanilla, and dark chocolate cupcakes decorated with a blue Star of David. They’re great gifts if you can stop yourself from eating them all before they make it in the mail.
