A Thanksgiving Poem Dedicated to Your Best Friends

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Holy Cross chapter.

‘Twas the night before Thanksgiving, throughout our hometowns,
College kids were finally home and couldn’t calm down.
All students were back for the first time since summer,
And wanted to be SO COLLEGE and not be a bummer.

They head to the bars and friends’ houses for a reunion,
But just like high school, plans were an utter confusion.
Around the table friends reminisce through the night,
And LOL-ing at the dumb things they did in hindsight.

Questions fly back and forth about what has happened at school,
Reciting stories with some embellishments to seem a little cool.
People try to impress each other with their new drinking skills,
By yelling orders to bartenders with more and more bills.

But no worries to be had because Thanksgiving is the next day,
Where you have all the stuffing, turkey, pie to make your hangovers go away.
So they decide to catch up until the wee hours of the night,
Because the Pilgrims gave them a day to sleep until afternoon daylight.

Shout-out to all those people who traveled on the Mayflower,
For giving friends in the USA a chance to talk for a few more hours.
Never forget to always have a sober person be the DD,
During the holidays, staying safe is always the key.

Thanksgiving break is a time to come together for a Pre-Turkey Bash,
Followed with a day where the whole family bonds to relax.
Enjoy your holiday and stay safe with festive mixed drinks,
Give thanks, cheers, and raise your glass with a clink.
