If you are a fried pickle lover then you probably know that they can, very easily, be messed up. Fried pickles are either amazing or meh, and are not something that you can find at just any restaurant. I made it my duty to search College Station for the best possible fried pickles, and it would be selfish of me to keep the results to myself.
7. Razzoo’s

$5.89. These are the type of fried pickles you get and just can’t finish them all. And everyone knows fried pickles do not last in a take home box. The pickles are a little bit thicker and juicer, which to me was too potent. Razzoo’s will cure all your Cajun cravings, and I would definitely go for the gumbo instead.
6. Koppe Bridge Bar & Grill

$5.49. I was a little taken back when I got to this menu and it said “pickle spears”. As you can imagine it definitely sets them apart from all the others I have tried. The spears were a lot juicier than your typical pickle slices. These aren’t better or worse, just very different.
5. World of Beer

$7. This is not your traditional basket of fried pickles with ranch. Rather, it comes with fried green beans, peppadews (wut?), and an IPA dipping sauce. The green beans actually offer the same pickle flavor but with a different texture. As far as the sauce goes, it added a light flavor but I would prefer your typical ranch. Ranch just makes everything better, right?
4. Dixie Chicken

$6.75. If you’ve ever been to College Station, then you’ve been here. The Dixie Chicken is one of Aggieland’s most famous traditions and the food does not disappoint. Be prepared for these fried pickles to have a spicy kick to them. This thick cut pickle is balanced out well with a thick breading to match.
3. Willie’s Icehouse

$3.45. Willie’s is what first spiked my fried pickle interest, so I have to give them credit for that. They are definitely bigger chips in terms of surface area, however I always prefer to pop ’em in my mouth in one bite. No disappointment, yet no wow factor.
2. The Corner Bar

$4.16. So I did order this round when I was 4 beers in (thank you ring dunk), but I firmly believe that they would taste just as good on an average day. You get exactly what you expect when you think of fried pickles. Plus, you can enjoy them on the rooftop with a great view. No complaints here.
1. The Tap

$1.25. This is the perfect balance of thinly sliced, well battered, and perfectly fried to the crisp pickles. Also, this is the biggest portion size I have gotten anywhere and for the cheapest price! This is not a happy hour special, this is the real price EVERYDAY. I like my fried pickles a crispy brown and I think The Tap has mastered this. I definitely recommend enjoying these on Wednesday night’s piano bar because that guy seriously knows every song ever written.
