For those of you that spend a good amount of time on FoodTok, you already know Will Porter. He’s the pastry chef who trained in Paris and returned to his hometown of Gilbert, Arizona to create Sablé Boulangerie. The bakery has become one of the biggest openings in 2026, to the point it has lines wrapping around the block like a college town nightclub. To add to his extensive resume, Chef Will Porter is also quickly earning him a spot as one of the internet’s hot chefs. With an absolutely generational start to his 2026 run and the love of many, what could possibly go wrong? Well, the chef has found himself in the spotlight of an interesting Jubilee debate video that has fans feeling hot, and this time it’s not because of fresh croissants.
The bakery that broke TikTok
Porter grew up in Gilbert, Arizona, completed a film degree at Tufts University, and then made a hard pivot to train as a pastry chef in Paris. After some time, he furthered his experience by making desserts at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, one of the most luxurious hotels in the world. Eventually, he decided to return home and open Sablé Boulangerie in May. Almost instantly, the bakery blew up and has amassed more than 335K followers on TikTok and more than 280K on Instagram, not including Porter’s personal Instagram account, which has another 120K.
Then came Jubilee
Jubilee, a media company known for thought-provoking debates that bring together people from all sides of the argument, has a series called “Surrounded” that focuses on one guest sitting in the middle of a circle of 20-plus people who disagree with them. In a July 19 episode, author Mark Manson (The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, Everything Is F*cked: A Book About Hope, and Will) was against a circle of manosphereans, men aligned with the anti-feminist and hyper-masculine internet culture, with Porter being one of them.
During Porter’s exchange with Manson, he argued constant attention on dating apps has warped how women see their options. “They’ve been inundated with interest from men…I think that’s created this really warped sense of reality for a lot of women, and I think it’s starting to affect men really deeply,” Porter said in the video. On top of this, he claimed that women care more about looks than personality and used manosphere ideology like “SMV,” or sexual market value, to rank a person’s value by looks, wealth, and status. “Between these three things, your looks, how wealthy you are, what your status is, within the balance of those three traits you’ll get to a certain point where you’re acceptable,” he argued. During a poll segment, the host asked who supported a few manosphere figures. Porter raised his flag for both Andrew Tate and the streamer Clavicular. And this might be the part that’s doing the most damage. Talking about dating apps and social media appearance is one thing, but publicly standing for Tate and Clavicular is genuinely wild.
Why the internet turned on him
In just hours, clips were everywhere and Porter had turned off all comments on Sablé’s social media accounts. Similar to how creator Catherine Ebs was picked apart for her grocery store situation, the main issue isn’t just about what he said. It’s the insane contrast between the persona you always see and the take. This guy’s entire business runs on his female audience finding him charming, and then he goes on camera siding with incel logic. To make this even worse, Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested in Miami this past Saturday on new horrifying charges, making his pro-Tate mindset hit even harder than it may have a month ago.
The reaction videos
All across the internet, stitch and react videos are piling up. Creator @thatflippingagent explained she had always found something off about the chef with “the fake accent, the fake teeth, the spray tan, the highlights,” even before he appeared on Jubilee. She then dug into what she called his overwhelmingly negative view on relationships, pointing specifically to his claim that every long-term couple he knows has basically let their looks go, and noted the irony of a guy who’s clearly invested money into his own glow-up turning around and calling women shallow. TikToker @hellqueencocktails decided to take a bit of a different approach. She revealed that Sablé customers, primarily suburban moms, wait over two hours in 115-degree heat and spend $70 for four pastries before coming to her real point that she’s in disbelief that he’d go on a platform as big as Jubilee and openly align himself with the manosphere.
The comment sections of these videos are even turning into their own subplot. Tons of viewers have said that his long monologues prior to opening had already tipped them off, with some even calling him cocky and joking that he’s basically the Matt Rife of pastries. Although not everyone piled on, some have pushed back that he was just being honest, and others have called out the reaction creators for mocking his delivery instead of engaging with what he actually said.
Where things stand now
Just a few hours ago, Porter gave a statement to the Phoenix New Times stating, “I do not support Andrew Tate, misogyny, or any ideology that demeans women.” He has also said that he recognizes his presence on the show still sent the wrong message, regardless of what he said in the room. As for whether or not that sits well, depends on who you ask. Also be sure to keep an eye out, as Jubilee has teased a follow-up episode that’ll be dropping on Wednesday, meaning this whole thing probably isn’t done playing out.
