It’s hard to open your phone and scroll through a few TikToks without eventually hearing something about Taylor Swift. From her record-breaking Eras Tour (the concert tour and the movie) to her newest song release for Toy Story 5, Swift has constantly been pushing the boundaries for singer-songwriters.
Most recently in the Swift-related news is speculation about her simultaneously public yet private wedding with football player Travis Kelce, which was held at Madison Square Garden on July 3. The wedding preparation included shutting down or heavily restricting access to several blocks surrounding the indoor arena, much to the protest of New Yorkers wanting to roam freely on their busy 4th of July weekend.
Hundreds of Swifties flocked from as far as Indiana to stand outside of Taylor Swift’s wedding venue, hoping to find out details about the secretive wedding without actually receiving an invitation from the popstar herself.
Aside from famous celebrities being seen on their ways to the wedding, such as Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, and Ed Sheeran, a video currently going viral on Instagram documents excited fans outside of Madison Square Garden achieving their Holy Grail: a box of pastries thrown from a white van labeled “SP Bakery Distributors Inc.”
The video, originally posted by Chris Rizzi (@notanothergay), shows Rizzi asking the drivers of the catering van, “How was it? Good?” – referring to the wedding. He then asks them to give a thumbs-up if the flavor of the cake was chocolate and a thumbs-down for vanilla. Right after, a driver presents a cardboard box and dangles it outside of a window, garnering screams of excitement from the waiting fans, who reach out their hands for the box. Rizzi, from behind the camera, shouts that he’ll catch the box if they throw it to the crowd, screaming, “I don’t care, it’s Taylor Swift’s food!”
An officer acts as the intermediary between the van and the fans behind the barricade, delivering the box safely to a fan nearby. The Swifties around her immediately gather around the box, opening it to find pastries inside. Rizzi, one of the lucky few to get his hands on a pastry, ends the video saying, “Oh my God, guys. We’re having Taylor Swift’s dessert!”
Despite the pastries from the catering van having no confirmed connection to Swift’s wedding besides coincidentally being in the right place at the right time, speculative Swifties have deemed the pastries to be from the wedding reception.
A comment on Rizzi’s video from @internationaldelightsllc on Instagram says, “Delices and Co is our brand. This is an Apple Feuilletée Danish. Can’t say who they were for, but we can tell you the Swifties have good taste.” While the comment doesn’t directly confirm the purpose of the pastries, at least the mystery of what the pastry is has been solved.
