After four years, the World Cup is finally here. Over the next month, the United States, Canada, and Mexico will host 48 teams across 16 venues. The tournament will feature 104 matches — a 40-game increase from 2022.
ESPN predicts that France will win the trophy, with European Champions Spain coming second. Other possible winners include England, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Argentina.
Here’s a quick recap of past winners: In 2018, France won the competition, beating Croatia 4-2. In 2022, Messi and Argentina dethroned France 4-2 in penalties after a 3-3 draw.
Looking to purchase tickets? Unfortunately, they have been hard to come by, with prices ranging from $300 to $4,000. The New York Times and The Athletic offer a calculator to estimate the cost for a specific round, team, or city. For example, Scotland versus Morocco in Boston (June 19) will cost an estimated $1,980 per person, including travel and lodging costs. The July 19 final at MetLife ranges between $7,435 and $12,640.
