Wedding Cakes, Mini Fridge, & 50 Avocados — The Craziest Food Items Left In An Uber

One of the worst feelings is reaching into your pocket moments after your Uber has pulled away to realize you left something behind. Maybe it’s your keys,or your phone. Maybe it’s your passport. Maybe it’s the one-of-a-kind handmade gift you were bringing to the birthday girl that you spent hours putting together. When you’re in a rush and jump out of the Uber before realizing, those items might be lost forever. Turns out, though, Uber keeps a log of items left behind. And there might be a way to get those precious items returned to you.

Today, Uber released its annual Lost and Found Index, listing the items passengers leave the most on their Uber trips. The most common items are clothing, passport, keys, phones — things you would expect. But the further down you go, the crazier the items get — an ankle monitor, an oxygen tank, a sack of marbles, a mannequin, a live fish, grass, a shower pole. Lucky for us, Uber lists and categorizes all the items, so we can see the craziest food items left behind in Ubers.

What are the craziest food items left in an Uber?

Within Uber’s Lost and Found Index is a list of the 50 most unique items left behind. Ranking number one is dentures with two teeth. Number 11 is a brand new mini fridge, 27 is a dishwasher, 36, a coffee table.

And that is just scratching the surface. Other items left behind that Uber included in the food section of the index are a wedding cake, 70 tiramisu cakes (!!!), an entire Thanksgiving meal, 420 donuts, two pounds of raspberry Gushers, a pound of molten cake, a deviled eggs container (were there any left though?), a 22 quart bucket of onions, and 50 avocados.

How do you retrieve a lost item that you left in an Uber?

Losing any of these items might feel like the end of the world, but there is a way you can try to get back your hundreds of donuts, dozens of avocados, or your cake for your nuptials. In order to get your item(s) back from your Uber trip(s), within the Uber app, you can now request a trip directly in the app to have your lost item returned to you.

To do this, open the Uber app and tap “Activity” on the bottom icon menu. Scroll down to “Find lost item” in the Help section, and report your missing item. You will receive a notification when your driver has confirmed they have located the item in their vehicle. Select “Request a return trip” with your original driver. Enter the address for the item to be returned to you and confirm the fare for the return. Follow along your driver’s return trip in the app. When the driver arrives with your item, show the pin number connected to the trip in the Uber app to confirm it is your return.
