Chicago-based, food-obsessed creator @madelyn.gw is a 25-year-old who shares get ready with me videos, lifestyle vlogs, and, of course, plenty of food content, ranging from trying new spots around Chicago to hosting for friends.
One of her most fun video series follows Madelyn as she celebrates a different National Food Holiday each week, a tradition she’s been keeping up since the start of 2026. Every week, she picks a holiday to celebrate by visiting places around Chicago and reviewing the featured food of the day.
This isn’t her first time doing the series — she originally started it in 2024, and the positive feedback she received inspired her to bring it back this year. From sandwiches to coffee to snacks, Madelyn has been celebrating all different kinds of food. She’s been consistently posting for months, and the series has become a really fun way to explore new foods around her city.
Here are some of the Holiday’s she has celebrated so far:
To start off the year, on January 19, she celebrated National Popcorn Day by visiting Garrett’s Popcorn shop. Garret’s is a popular location for tourists visiting Chicago where they have multiple flavors of popcorn. She got the “Chicago-mix” popcorn flavored bag and took it home for a late-night snack.
For drinks, Madelyn celebrated National Margarita Day on February 22 at Gus’ Sip & Dip in Chicago. This margarita is her favorite in the city for its affordability, its presentation and its balance of flavors. Unlike a classic margarita, this one has shaved iced on top for a fun twist.
On March 3, Madelyn celebrated National Cold Cuts Day by visiting Bourgeois Pig Café in Chicago’s Lincoln Park. She ordered the “Pilgrim’s Progress,” a panini-style sandwich featuring turkey, cheese, red onion, avocado, and mayo. Madelyn loves Bourgeois Pig for its consistent quality and classic, satisfying sandwiches. She also gave a shoutout to her favorite snack deli meat: Oscar Mayer’s oven-roasted turkey breast slices.
This month, Madelyn has already celebrated two National Food Holidays. On April 1, she marked National Sourdough Day at Dorothy’s Bakery, known for their sourdough bread. She tried a build-your-own sandwich with turkey, swiss, tomato, red onion, cucumbers, and microgreens. Her genuine reactions are what make her videos feel so authentic, and she gave the sandwich a 7 out of 10. She recommends trying their bagel breakfast sandwiches or picking up a sourdough loaf instead.
On April 5th, Madelyn celebrated National Deep Dish Pizza Day by comparing two popular Chicago pizzerias. She ordered the same pizza, sausage and green peppers, from both Lou Malnati’s and Pequod’s Pizza. In the end, Pequod’s came out on top as her pick for the best deep dish of the day.
