Birds are chirping, the sun is out longer, plants are turning green, and temperatures are rising. Spring is coming at us in full force, and it is only the first day. My first thought is about the new yummy flavors that will be released at Starbucks.
Notoriously, Starbucks releases core flavors that blow people away every season. Cherry took the world by storm last year, and the Winter flavors are always top sellers. This season is continuing this pattern.
What are the new spring flavors?
On March 3, Starbucks released its Spring menu. This release came with the toasted coconut syrup, ube powder, and lavender. But that is not all. For the second Spring launch coming in April, mango is making an appearance, and I cannot wait to try it.
With a menu that consistently gets new flavors you can add to any drink, it is easy to get overwhelmed by all the choices. How do you know if a certain combination will go well together? How will you stay hydrated in the hotter temperatures? As a Starbucks barista who has tried every combination, I am here to tell you the best Spring customizations.
What are good customizations?
- Pink Drink with Vanilla Bean Powder
Everyone loves a good pink drink—the mix of strawberry juice and coconut milk. But if you add a scoop of vanilla bean powder, your drink will become even sweeter! The more powder, the sweeter the drink.
- Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso with White Mocha
Brown sugar is a delicious flavor, but the espresso can overshadow it. If you want an extra bit of sweetness, try one pump of white mocha. Add whipped cream if you like, and maybe even a caramel sugar topping for a little bit of crunch!
- Peach Green Tea Lemonade with Raspberry Syrup
In the heat of Spring and the upcoming Summer season, it is easy to become dehydrated. Whether it’s because of a festival or a run, something you can chug that tastes yummy is always welcome. The peach green tea lemonade helps quench your thirst, while a pump or two of raspberry syrup adds a fruity note. But if you do not like lemonade, you can always substitute it for water instead.
- Passion Tea, Add Classic & Ube Foam
Starbucks’ passion tea has a spicier taste, but when you add the coconut ube cold foam, the contrast of red and purple makes for a picture-perfect drink, ready to post on your Instagram story. If you want a different taste, the classic can make anything delicious.
- Iced Matcha with Extra Ice & Vanilla Bean Powder
Matcha is everywhere right now, and Starbucks makes it easy to customize it to your taste. If you order an iced matcha with extra ice, it will surely cool you down, but the vanilla bean powder brings out the earthy notes of matcha while adding a touch of sweetness.
- Pink Cannonball, Replace Coconut Milk with Heavy Cream
The Beat Games drinks are very popular, and you should never be embarrassed to try new things. With a mix of strawberry açaí and mango dragon, the flavor is sweet and sour, like a Sour Patch Kid. Replace the coconut milk with heavy cream for a thicker texture that almost tastes like strawberry yogurt!
- Iced Black Tea Lemonade, Add Classic Syrup
Iced black tea is a classic where I am from. As always, you can add lemonade to make it an Arnold Palmer. If you want it to be sweet, add a few pumps of classic to a venti to make a treat you can’t put down.
- Strawberry Frappuccino with Toasted Coconut Cold Foam
Are you feeling tropical? Maybe you feel like you would rather be on the beach, relaxing, than doing work? Grab a strawberry frappuccino with the new toasted coconut cold foam. The combination makes it feel like you are out tanning in the sun instead of stuck at a desk.
- Iced Vanilla Protein Latte, Add Lavender Protein Cold Foam
I know, I know, I have not put many recipes with espresso. But if I am going to recommend a drink that hydrates you, wakes you up, and gives you your protein intake, it would be this one. Add the lavender protein cold foam, and it tastes the way flowers smell, in the best way. With around 45 grams of protein, it is perfect if you have been working out in the sun.
- Iced Lavender Latte, Add 2 Packets of Honey & Cold Foam
This sweet treat is my absolute favorite. Order an iced lavender latte with two packets of honey instead of the honey syrup pumps. They taste very different! Add some vanilla cold foam (or maybe even coconut), and it tastes like the whole Spring season.
Hopefully, you find your next favorite drink that you cannot put down or stop ordering. Almost everything is customizable at Starbucks, and if one of these flavors doesn’t taste good to you, you can always experiment and ask your baristas for their opinions.
