The weather is getting warmer and Easter is right around the corner. Whether the start of your spring is marked by Easter egg hunts, brunch, blooming flowers, or even just some extra time outside, it’s time to pull out the spring themed clothing and put away the hats, gloves and scarves that have taken up way too much space in our closets.
If you’re getting ready to celebrate Easter with your family, or if you’re just going to a springtime brunch with your friends, here’s exactly what to wear based on your favorite Easter or springtime brunch dish.
Your favorite food is the hot cross buns.
Hot cross buns are something that I’d always heard of growing up, but had never actually had until I studied abroad in Australia. The pastries are soft, golden brown and are just the slightest bit sweet with the addition of currants or raisins. If you look forward to a hot cross bun to kick off your spring season, or to have as an Easter brunch dessert, you probably like basic outfits you can wear every season. You can create a look that matches the neutral shades of the hot cross buns, but add lighter layers depending on the weather. We’re thinking white pants (yes it’s okay before Memorial Day) and a light button down shirt in a neutral shade.
Your favorite food is the fresh fruit.
If warmer weather is your favorite time to start enjoying fresh fruits again, and you look forward to the bright berries next to the pastries at brunch, you can match the fruits and be the pop of color at your Easter brunch table. A long pink dress, with a drop waist to match current trends, would be bright, light and would have all eyes on you.
Your favorite food is the ham.
An Easter ham is a staple in a lot of American houses on Easter. In my family, the Easter ham is ready to be eaten during brunch, and it sits in the center of the table. If the Easter ham is what you look forward to on Easter Sunday, or if you look forward to bacon at every brunch, you probably like to keep things classic. For this, it could be pink and red with a classy and timeless look to them. Gingham boxer shorts have been in style for some time now, and you can class the outfit up with a button down sweater and a paired red purse.
Your favorite food is the mimosas.
If a springtime brunch with your friends means you’re ordering a mimosa, then you might like to match the bright orange that’s served as a garnish. Shades of yellow and orange in a light dress or in a light top paired with some denim could create a match that’s too picture perfect to not take a photo.
Your favorite food is the French toast.
French toast is a classic brunch food and is a savory warm dish that completes any brunch spread. If you’re always reaching for the french toast, you would love golden tan and brown shades that can be transformed for spring. Tan and brown tops with lighter or denim pants and some skin showing is the vibe. Brown tank tops, or flowy brown short sleeves could be an amazing match to the golden buttery toast on your table.
Your favorite food is the Easter eggs.
Dying Easter eggs is a staple in the Easter season. If you love dying or painting Easter eggs and eating the hard boiled egg under the shell, you’re probably a person who loves bright colors and pastels. Because it’s finally springtime, pastels and bright colors can be worn by themselves or even with light layers. A short and bright patterned dress or a floral skirt is perfect for a springtime brunch with your friends.
Your favorite food is the candy.
For those of us that participated in Easter egg hunts as kids, candy has always been a highlight of the Easter season. If you look forward to finding Easter eggs filled with candy and have a sweet tooth, you can match some of the classic candies with neutral bases and pops of color. We’re reminiscent of the Cadbury creme egg packaging, a darker or neutral base with a splash of bright vibes. Pink pants or bright skirts with an accent top, and some jewelry to add some shine would have you matching the candy theme of spring.
