Are Snack Plates The New Sweet Treats?

Snack plates have gone viral, and we’re thinking this could be a new trend that balances all the sweet treat creations that have taken over. Snack plates can be savory or sweet and will satisfy all of your cravings at once. They’re perfect to solve that midnight snack craving, or the midday crash when you just need a little snack to get you through the day.

If you’re needing a little inspiration for your next snack plate, look no further. Here’s how to assemble the viral snack plates that have taken over our FYP.

What is a snack plate?

A snack plate is like a crossover between a lunchable and a charcuterie board. You can add cheese, pickles, grapes, crackers, chocolate or pretty much anything you have in your fridge or pantry. Snack plates are customizable and can consist of any salty and sweet combination you’ve been craving.

The most common snack plates consist of more typical lunch foods. We’re thinking of lunchmeats, vegetables, crackers and cheese.

Dance Moms star Brooke Hyland revealed on TikTok (@brookehyland_1) that she adds green grapes with the ultimate crunch, cheese stuffed hot peppers, salami rollups, Fritos with a savory cheese dip, hard-boiled eggs with hot sauce, and some slices of cheese to top to her snack plate.

How do you assemble a snack plate?

For some TikTok users, the assembly of the snack plate is just as important as what’s on the plate. TikTok user Allie Appleton has gone viral for her assembly of her 3 p.m. snack plates.

She starts off her videos by placing a handful of vegetables next to each other. It’s always persian cucumbers, sometimes tomatoes, and, in this video, pickles too. She adds one serving of roasted unsalted peanuts, in a small bowl stacked on top of the plate, and then starts to assemble the fruit side. In one of her most recent videos, she added cutie oranges and blackberries and crackers, popcorn, and just a little bit of cheese for the crunchy side of the plate. For a sweet balance, she put a strawberry Tru Fru chocolate piece. Appleton said she eats her snack plates with a dip of the day, this time a creamy humus, and has a seltzer water to wash everything down.

What else can you add?

TikTok user @itsallthingspay created an 8 p.m. snack plate with an ideal balance of savory and sweet to close out the day. The snack plate had fresh strawberries, blueberries, grapes, cheese, Lesser Evil Homer’s blend popcorn and to top it all off dark chocolate pretzels.

For the ultimate savory snack plate, TikTok user @simplystephjaye created a snack plate with golden toasted bread, heirloom tomatoes, garlic and herb cream cheese stuffed jalapenos, bacon, a pickled hot green tomato, grinder salad mixture, some avocado slices, mozzarella balls, and almost every savory snack imaginable.
