Costco Is Selling The Largest Green Grapes — But They Cost Up To $30

Grapes are some of the best snacks out there. You can eat them anytime, anyplace, whether it’s in a car on a road trip or at your desk for a study session. Of course, not all grapes are made equal. You can go large or small, crunchy or soft, and sweet or tart. There’s also the ever-important question of whether you fall into the camp of red grapes or green grapes

If you’re a green grape lover, there’s good news for you. Costco has released a new variety of green grapes known as Shine Muscat Grapes. One look at them, and you’ll know why they’ve gone viral despite the hefty price tag. These are probably the largest, shiniest grapes you’ve ever seen and look almost too good to eat.

What are the Costco Shine Muscat Grapes?

Shine Muscat Grapes are Japanese green grapes known for their size. They come on a thicker vine than typical bundles and are usually seedless. In other words, they’re picture perfect. And they certainly look crunchy, at least on the outside.

Costco’s version comes packaged in a plastic box with packaging inspired by the ongoing Lunar New Year celebration. But there’s one major catch: these grapes are expensive. Prices vary by location. Most fall around the $14 mark, which is double the cost of regular grapes for the same amount. But some prices are just mind-blowing. TikTok user @clairexm, who goes by Claire, said the grapes she brought cost $27.

What do people think of the Costco grapes?

On the surface, these grapes pretty much look perfect. Customers, though, seem to tell a different story. Claire compared her $27 grapes to gummy grapes. She said “they have no sourness at all,” but she wishes they were crunchier.

TikTok user @emilysflowergarden also taste-tested the grapes on camera. “I mean, it tastes like a grape. Nothing special about it,” she said. “And there’s a seed, like a really big seed.” A bit disappointing for a grape variety known for being seedless.

Are the Costco grapes worth it?

Would you pay over $10 for a bunch of grapes? You definitely won’t find grapes that look like them anywhere else, unless you take a flight to Japan. But even there, Shine Muscat Grapes cost around $30, according to TikTok user @rachelloveslattes. She shared that the grapes from Costco she tried were “not as crunchy as expected but still sweet.”

Still, most people who have tried the grapes don’t seem to recommend them. “I don’t think they’re worth it,” TikTok user @userchakrika wrote. “I’ve had better grapes at Costco.
