The third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty has been airing this summer, and whether you’re tuned in to the show or not, you’ve probably seen countless social media posts about the series. From heated debates over Team Conrad versus Team Jeremiah to funny commentary on the show’s often cringe moments, The Summer I Turned Pretty is all everyone’s talking about. After a certain type of dessert became a key plot point in last week’s episode, the conversation of Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah now includes a wedding cake — and the fan reactions are hilarious.
What is the wedding cake from The Summer I Turned Pretty?
If you’re unfamiliar with the plot of this season, all you need to know is that Belly and Jeremiah are engaged — but with unapproving parents and a limited income, they are left to figure out how to have the wedding of their dreams on an extremely tight budget. That means making compromises in an effort to save money and stay within their financial limits. For example, Belly ditches the expensive bouquets from the florist and decides to use flowers from Jeremiah’s late mother’s garden instead.
But when it comes to the wedding cake, Jeremiah is less than willing to budge. His cake request? A two-tier dark chocolate cake with a raspberry coulis filling and a mirror glaze on top. Very elaborate. The bakery tells Belly it would cost $750 — which is way out of their budget, and frankly, a ridiculous amount of money to spend on cake.
But Belly has a solution: she tells Jeremiah they can still get a cake from his bakery of choice, but it would just have to have some slight adjustments. A single-tiered milk chocolate cake with raspberry coulis would be more within their price range, and taste extremely similar. Or so she thought.
According to Jeremiah, the “whole flavor profile” is dependent on the dark chocolate’s bitterness and the raspberry coulis’ sweet tartness. Even with Belly’s pleas of being realistic, Jeremiah refuses to give up his dream cake. He even suggests putting it on a credit card and paying it off later.
How are people online reacting to the wedding cake?
As the tension grows stronger between Team Conrad and Team Jeremiah fans, the wedding cake has become the newest argument in favor of “Bonrad” used by supporters. According to them, Conrad would never insist on spending such an absurd amount of money on a cake, especially one that’s a trend from a decade ago.
Fans have even gone as far as to make edits of Jeremiah and his beloved mirror glaze cake. At this point, they’re a better ship than Belly and Jeremiah.
Like the rest of us watching, Belly (and even Conrad, Jeremiah’s brother who just so happens to be Belly’s ex), can’t believe Jeremiah’s unwillingness to change anything about this cake. I mean seriously, have you ever seen someone so passionate about mirror glaze and raspberry coulis?

As a proud member of Team Conrad, I can only say that if someone is making bad financial decisions about a wedding cake, then they are probably just not ready for marriage. Conrad would give up the mirror glaze without a second thought!
