Trader Joe’s is, arguably, the best place to load up on tasty snacks, affordable meals, and reusable bags — before the mini canvas totes sold out almost immediately, that is. The spring-inspired pastel collection of the new Trader Joe’s mini totes (which are available in mint green, baby blue, lavender purple, and pastel pink) were an instant hit, and if you missed out on getting the real deal, you may be seriously out of luck. Unless you’re in the mood to empty your wallet (the last thing to do on tax day) on eBay, where resellers are listing the viral TJ’s mini totes at absolutely outrageous prices.
How much do the Trader Joe’s mini totes cost?
When Trader Joe’s initially released the new pastel mini totes on April 8, the grocery store sold the bags for $3 apiece. No wonder everyone wanted one — the totes aren’t only budget-friendly, they’re colorful, convenient, and perfect for a springtime shopping trip or an Easter basket stuffed with Trader Joe’s peanut butter cups. Since selling out at most locations, though, the bags have made their way to online resale sites, with prices topping six figures.
How much are the Trader Joe’s mini bags being resold for?
Spoiler alert: too much. Given that a single Trader Joe’s mini tote bag costs less than an average cup of coffee, resellers on eBay are officially out of control.
There are a number of online listings for Trader Joe’s mini totes that are clocking in anywhere from $250 to $900, which is roughly 300% the standard in-store value. In my opinion, the auctions suggest that sellers are acting like they’re listing luxury purses and not mini reusable grocery bags from a national chain grocery store.
Beyond the “reasonable” (by comparison) listings for a few hundred dollars, here are other ridiculously expensive listings, like a single mint green mini tote bag going for $49,850 on eBay (16,616 times the bag’s original value, and the average cost of a down payment on a house in the U.S. in 2025), or a “cheaper” set of four going for $3800. While the bundled set may seem appealing compared to the $50k ($950 apiece, which isn’t cheap by any means).
The real kicker, though, is eBay user surplus_steals’ listing, which features a $1 million price tag for a set of eight Trader Joe’s mini totes. Yes, that’s one million dollars. As in $1,000,000, with six zeroes. For reference, that’s $125,000 per bag — the equivalent price of 41,666 totes at store value.
Now, there are some resellers who are offering bags for more reasonable prices, with a single bag on eBay generally going for $13. But the bags are going for higher at $40, which are selling — 120 buyers purchased that listing. Ironically, a whole set of four is going for a similar price. Still, just because these listings are priced for significantly less, it’s important to keep in mind that these totes were originally $3. If you’re really itching to grab a bag, $13 might not be too bad, but it’s probably best to wait for a restock.
The Trader Joe’s mini totes can be found on other popular reselling sites too, for similar prices to eBay’s lower listings. Poshmark has single bags going for about $15, with a couple sets of four going for around $50. Like eBay, though, Poshmark also has some pricier listings for sets, with four bags retailing in the hundreds. Between Poshmark, Depop, and eBay, Depop appears to have the cheapest options, with a single bag going for $8.50 and a set of four going for $28 — roughly a 42% markup.
Are there Trader Joe’s Mini Tote Bag dupes?
If you aren’t looking to break the bank on a tote bag (I personally am not), but still want a cute and trendy bag to carry your spring essentials, Hobby Lobby has you covered with dupes. The color selection is slightly limited compared to TJ’s, and they don’t have the Trader Joe’s logo, but these totes also aren’t thousands of dollars. Instead, the Hobby Lobby Trader Joe’s mini tote dupes are clocking in at a much more reasonable $6, which is the price of two TJ’s totes, but that’s couch change compared to the $1 million listing.
