The world seems to be finally coming to an end. Finals period is slowly creeping up, Zayn Malik has announced his leave from One Direction and 100 Montaditos has filed for bankruptcy.
100 Montaditos is literally one of the best sandwich spots in NYC. Founded in Spain in 2000, the company currently has more than 300 locations in Spain and multiple other shops in other countries, including 17 locations within the U.S. It is considered to be one of the most popular restaurant chains in Spain.
The American branch of 100 Montaditos, however, recently filed for bankruptcy, abruptly halting the plans the branch had to establish 29 more units throughout the U.S.
The sandwich chain boasts 100 different bite-sized sandwiches made on montaditos (hence the name). Montadito, a tapa-sized roll similar to the French baguette, is a staple in Spanish cuisine. The bread is freshly baked to perfection literally seconds before your order and then filled with premium ingredients. With the sandwiches costing between $1.50 and $3 each with options for combinations with amazing fries or dry-cured meats, 100 Montaditos is one of the best cheap eats of NYC.
Their menu features gourmet sandwiches such as the Pepito (brie cheese, garlic pork loin, piquillo pepper and arugula) and sweet options like almonds, chocolate and hazelnut spread on a chocolate montadito served with a side of whipped cream.
And the best part is, literally everything is so Instagrammable. Foodies everywhere will be praying that 100 Montaditos doesn’t disappear from the U.S.
