Chipotle Now Has Hot Honey Chicken & I Got A First Taste

Hot honey is the it-girl of fast food flavor combos right now, from KFC’s hot honey bowls to Taco Bell’s new Hot Honey Diablo sauce. Now, Mexican fast food chain Chipotle is heating things up with the debut of its own sweet and spicy protein: Chipotle Honey Chicken.

Chipotle Honey Chicken is a bold, new menu innovation that perfectly balances unique heat from chipotle peppers and a touch of sweet from pure wildflower honey. After rave reviews throughout a limited-time test in Sacramento, California and Nashville, Tennessee, the company’s newest protein is the perfect swicy addition to any order.

What is Chipotle Honey Chicken?

Hot honey is the top trending flavor of the year, according to the National Restaurant Association’s “What’s Hot 2025 Culinary Forecast,” and Chipotle understood the assignment. The new Chipotle Honey Chicken is made with fresh chicken hot off the grill, seasoned with savory Mexican spices, in a marinade of seared, smoked chipotle peppers and a touch of pure honey, delivering a new, flavorful bite to any entrée choice.

To celebrate the new release, Chipotle is featuring the ‘Most Popular Chipotle Honey Chicken Bowl’ on the Chipotle app and Chipotle.com for easy ordering, making it simple for guests to experience the new protein. The most popular selections among fans who have tasted the new item are Chipotle Honey Chicken in your vehicle of choice — think burrito, bowl, or tacos — with white rice, black beans, fajita veggies, fresh tomato salsa, roasted chili-corn salsa, sour cream, cheese and lettuce.

Is the new Chipotle Honey Chicken good?

I love sweet, I love spicy, and I love Chipotle, so I was beyond stoked when I got an early taste test of the new Chipotle Honey Chicken. I trust Chipotle fans and employees implicitly (these are the people who brought us barbacoa pork and the queso nacho hack, after all), so I decided to try the ‘Most Popular Chipotle Honey Chicken Bowl’ in salad form sans cheese and sour cream to keep it dairy-free, but with added guac.

Yes, guac was extra, but it was the perfect creamy complement to the sweet and spicy chicken. I was so impressed by the new Chipotle Honey Chicken. While the sweetness of the honey was evident, the signature Chipotle seasoning also shone. The honey added to the standard delicious flavor you expect from Chipotle’s grilled chicken, but it didn’t overpower it. Both of the sweet and subtly spicy flavors mingled well together, and it’s going to be my new go-to protein once it officially hits stores.

How do I try Chipotle Honey Chicken?

Starting today, March 6, Chipotle Rewards members will get early access to the new protein on the Chipotle app and Chipotle.com (and Chipotle.ca for Canadian customers). If you aren’t a rewards members, all guests in North America and Europe can try Chipotle Honey Chicken at starting March 7 at participating Chipotle locations.
