The Starbucks Valentine’s Drinks Are Here & I Got A First Taste

As February 14 approaches, love is officially in the air at chain restaurants, grocery stores, and even on Stanley cups. While hacks and secret menu orders for Starbucks Valentine’s drinks — a strawberry iced Chai latte and a spin on the Dragon Drink — have been making the rounds on social media over the last few weeks, the coffee chain didn’t announce or release a specific V-Day menu — until now. Beginning Tuesday, February 4 and continuing through the romantic holiday, the Starbucks Valentine’s Day menu will be available at participating stores nationwide, and the menu includes fan-favorites and brand new drinks. If you’re wondering if it’s worth the trip in freezing temps to try the new Starbucks Valentine’s drinks, lucky for you, I got a first taste.

What drinks are on the Starbucks Valentine’s Day menu for 2025?

In addition to the viral pink drinks and Valentine’s Cake Pop which have been available since January, Starbucks is debuting an official Valentine’s Day menu including two returning V-day faves, as well as a brand new drink. First, the returning Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Crème Frappuccino blends together strawberry puree, Frappuccino chips, milk and ice for a coffee-free pink frapp which is as decadent as the chocolate-covered fruit. The blended Frappuccino is then layered on top of a splash of strawberry puree at the base of the cup, then finished with whipped cream and mocha drizzle.

The other returner is the Chocolate Hazelnut Cookie Cold Brew. This fan-favorite Valentine’s Day coffee features Starbucks Cold Brew sweetened with vanilla syrup and topped with silky, chocolate hazelnut cream cold foam and a chocolate cookie crumble. This nutty, sweet drink is reminiscent of Nutella, Oreos, and Valentine’s Day chocolate hearts.

What is the new Starbucks Blackberry Sage Refresher?

In addition to the returning cold brew coffee and frappuccino, Starbucks is also debuting a brand new drink for its Valentine’s Day menu: Blackberry Sage Refreshers. The Blackberry Sage Refresher pairs sweet blackberries with herbaceous notes of sage, and is available three ways: shaken with water, with coconut milk (aka the new Midnight Drink), and as a Blackberry Sage Lemonade Refresher. This is the first Starbucks Refresher to pair a fruit flavor with a savory herb, a trend that’s popular in cocktails and mocktails.

Is the new Starbucks Blackberry Sage Refresher good?

While the Starbucks Blackberry Sage Refresher isn’t available in stores until February 4, I got a sneak preview of the new Refresher trio ahead of its release. First, I tried the regular Blackberry Sage Refresher mixed with water. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the first herb-y Refresher, but I was wowed. I love blackberries, and the flavor of this drink was a perfect balance of sweet and tart, which was complemented well by the herbaceous notes of sage. I loved that you could taste both flavors distinctly, yet they also mingled and paired well together.

One thing to note, too, was the fact that this truly feels like a winter drink, despite being an iced Refresher. I loved that the color was very Valentine’s Day-forward, and the drink was refreshing, yet there was something warm about the flavor combination that was truly fitting for my sampling in single-digit temps. Shoutout to Starbucks for making a wintertime refresher that is both cold and delightfully warm, because the Blackberry Sage Refresher is really a great fit for V-day.

Next I sampled the Blackberry Sage Lemonade Refresher, which I was super optimistic about since the Passion Tea Lemonade is my usual non-coffee order at Starbies, and the Cran-Merry Lemonade was my favorite variation of the holiday refresher. While this version was yummy, some sips felt like there were a lot of competing flavors: the sweet blackberry and herb-y sage just couldn’t keep up with the tartness of the lemonade. That said, it hit on all flavor notes, and I did enjoy it — it just wasn’t my fave.

Last but not least was the Blackberry Sage Coconut Milk Refresher, which has been dubbed the Midnight Drink, and it’s safe to say I saved the best for last. The creaminess of the coconut milk let the blackberry and sage flavors shine through, without being overpowered or watered down. Plus, the coconut milk created a nice consistency for the drink, and it was both delicious and, well, refreshing. Hands down, the Midnight Drink is going to be my go-to order for the Blackberry Sage Refresher.

When are Starbucks Valentine’s drinks available for 2025?

Beginning February 4, the Starbucks Valentine’s Day menu will be available at participating locations nationwide, including the three new Blackberry Sage Refreshers and returning Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Crème Frappuccino and Chocolate Hazelnut Cookie Cold Brew. Starbucks lovers can enjoy their favorite beverages in one of Starbucks Valentine’s Day cold cups or tumblers, available at Starbucks stores in the United States for a limited time.
