I Took On The Flour Bakery + Cafe Holiday Window Challenge: Here’s How It Went

I never back down from a challenge, especially if it includes free pastries! I was scrolling on Instagram when I stumbled upon a post describing the rules. It was simple, all you had to do was visit all 9 of Flour Bakery + Cafe’s locations throughout Boston and snap selfies with the holiday displays in the window by end of day 1/1/25 to receive a box of pastries. I created a game plan and set off to hit every spot on their list.

While it is doable to tackle all 9 locations in one day, I had no desire to do so. I split it into 3 days, based on what neighborhood I was going to be in.

Day 1:

I decided to start off light with Seaport’s Fort Point location and walked over to the IDB/Breadquarters store.

Day 2:

I began in the South End shop before venturing over to the Hynes Convention Center location. After doing a little shopping, I continued my journey over to the Back Bay one. The Beacon Hill location was my last stop of the day.

Day 3:

With just 3 locations left, I set off to Cambridge. The Harvard Square location was my first stop, followed by the Cambridgeport one. I finished the day with the Central Square store.

50,000 or so steps later, I finally finished. I posted my pictures on Instagram and emailed Flour to coordinate the pickup of my prize, the last part of the challenge. I headed to the Back Bay location to collect my box of pastries, which included one pastry for each unique window display, a nice touch. They were a blondie, brownie, chocolate cake, coffee cake, chocolate chip cookie, brown butter cinnamon roll, sticky bun, and 2 pieces of Rhode Island style bakery pizza (in replacement of the bialy).

Worth the effort? I’d say so! The pastries were good, with my personal favorite being the brown butter cinnamon roll.

Would I do this again? Yes. It was a fun way to explore Boston and get rewarded at the end! I highly recommend checking this challenge out next holiday season.
