Lunar New Year is officially kicking off on January 29 and lasts 16 days — though, the public holiday celebration wraps up on February 4. The important holiday is widely celebrated across many Asian countries and is marked by the first new moon of the lunar calendar. So, as we say goodbye to the Year of the Dragon, Chinese New Year welcomes the Year Of The Snake — an animal of the Chinese Zodiac associated with growth and renewal. Each Lunar New Year is steeped in fun family traditions including wearing the lucky color of red, sharing red envelopes (hóngbāo) filled with money, and of course, making delicious dinners, snacks, and treats. After all, what’s a Lunar New Year celebration without longevity noodles? In preparation for the exciting food-filled holiday ahead, Hedley & Bennett and Fly By Jing are teaming up to offer a special-edition Dim Sum Essential apron. Here’s how you can get your own Lunar New Year apron for all of the cooking prep you have on your plate. (No pun intended.)
What is included in the apron collab?
Hedley & Bennett is one of the most iconic aprons trusted by industry pros near and far. This deep red apron comes with three pockets with adorable designs of smiling bao. Designed in tandem with Vietnamese American artist & designer Nhi Ngyuen, the apron also is adorned with a special Hedley & Bennett Year of the Snake label. Orders officially open up on January 16 with each apron costing $95. Additionally, the first 300 orders come with a coupon for a free six-ounce jar of Fly By Jing.
What other cool collab items can I snag for Lunar New Year?
Of course, this celebration of a new year is marked by delicious food, but you cannot forget the fun adult beverages such as Baijiu (Chinese liquor similar to vodka) and Jiao wine. Additionally, tequila brand Don Julio launched a limited-edition Tequila Don Julio 1942 Year of the Snake Edition, which features a bright red Chinese Zodiac-themed illustration.
That’s not all — Tequila Don Julio tapped mixologist Fanny Chu to create signature cocktail recipes to enjoy on the big day. One of the offerings the beloved bartender crafted that you can make for your own party is a Lunar New Year Margarita. Coat the glass rim with citrus salt. Combine 1.25 ounces of tequila, a quarter ounce each of lychee liqueur, lime juice, and ginger syrup, and half an ounce of mandarin juice into a shaker with ice. Shake thoroughly. Strain into a ridged rocks glass.
Plus, Stanley launched a Lunar New Year tumbler in 30 and 40 ounces for 2025, and they immediately sold out on the brand’s main website. Though, if you want to score your own red and gold Quencher, you can head to resale sites like eBay and Mercari to score one.
