Shy Bird’s name hints at the menu’s focal point: chicken. With locations in South Boston and Kendall Square, this all-day rotisserie serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

Work From Shy Bird (WFSB)

One of Shy Bird’s standout features is the Work From Shy Bird concept, or WFSB as they warmly call it, available exclusively at the South Boston location. For just $17.95, diners can enjoy one breakfast or lunch dish and bottomless drinks from the WFSB menu, making it an excellent spot for remote work and/or study sessions. Additionally, Shy Bird provides free Wi-Fi, printing, office supplies, chargers, call-friendly areas and more, transforming it into a fully stocked office during the day.

As expected, each diner in the restaurant had a laptop out, earbuds in and food and drinks on the table. If you’re like me and work best in productive environments, then Shy Bird is the ideal location to set up for a day of work.

Food and Drink

From the WFSB menu, I opted for the Zab’s Spicy Breakfast Burrito, a hearty dish featuring your favorite breakfast ingredients — bacon, eggs, potatoes, etc. It’s served with a bottle of Zab’s Hot Sauce for a nice kick — the perfect addition. To drink, I chose an iced Maple Brown Sugar Matcha off the seasonal-drink menu. If you love sweet matcha, this one’s for you!

My friend wisely went for the Fried Chicken & Egg Sammy, because chicken from a rotisserie is a must-try. The crispy chicken, fluffy scrambled egg and hot honey drizzle on a soft bun made for the most satisfying bite. She paired it with an iced mocha which had just the right amount of sweetness and chocolate undertones.

After a full meal, we left with our work done and our thirst quenched. Plus, we took advantage of the bottomless drink deal and each took an additional drink to-go. I chose the warm Pumpkin Spice Latte, another seasonal beverage, and my friend chose an iced vanilla latte. But there’s more than just lattes on Shy Bird’s extensive beverage list — they also offer coffees, teas and an alcohol menu that includes cocktails and mocktails.

Although their menu focuses heavily on chicken dishes, there are also plenty of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.

The (Bird)house

Shy Bird’s interior combines modern industrial design with homey comfort. Its large central bar, colorful decor, and lush plants provide a fresh atmosphere. The seating arrangements are varied, including both single and connected booths, tables and high-tops — perfect for both solo work or group meals. While it can get busy during peak hours, the atmosphere remains welcoming to both work and casual dining.

Sitting in the restaurant is an experience of its own, but if you can’t make it in person, Shy Bird also offers takeout and delivery services.

Final Tweet

Shy Bird is an elevated take on your average chicken shop. The WFSB deal is a game-changer for those looking for a productive workspace with great food and endless drink options, making Shy Bird a great place to roost.
