It’s the most wonderful time of the year: holiday treat season, of course. Thanksgiving menus are being planned, gifts are getting wrapped, and cookies are in the oven. Beloved brands like Stanley, Anthropology, and more are releasing their winter collections just in time for Black Friday and holiday shopping. Even better, fast food chains are putting their seasonal items back on the menu: including holiday milkshakes. Whether you’re looking for a milkshake to round out the last few weeks of fall or one that will get you in the Christmas spirit, we can all agree that the weather is never too cold for a milkshake. Here are seven limited-time specialty holiday milkshakes from beloved fast food joints that you need to try this season.
Chick-fil-a’s Peppermint Milkshake
Chick-fil-A is bringing some “enjoy-mint” to guests with its peppermint milkshake. The frozen beverage is made with Chick-fil-A’s classic Icedream dessert base and features chunks of peppermint bark and whipped cream and a cherry on top. The shake retails around $5.15, and guests can add chocolate syrup or extra peppermint bark for an additional 40 cents.
#SpoonTip: Want to share with some friends? Chick-fil- also has recipes, like the Peppermint Milkshake Pie, that you can make with your shake.
Dairy Queen’s Peppermint Hot Cocoa Blizzard
Dairy Queen is bringing back its Peppermint Hot Cocoa Blizzard as its “Blizzard of the Month” this December. The seasonal treat features peppermint candy pieces, choco chunks, and cocoa fudge blended together in the classic Blizzard base and topped with whipped topping and candy cane pieces. Though the Peppermint Hot Cocoa Blizzard isn’t officially on the menu yet, it will likely come in the four standard blizzard sizes: mini, small, medium, and large. A medium Blizzard typically retails around $6.19. While some locations may have it early, most DQs will begin serving the blizzard in December.
Five Guys’ Candy Cane Crunch Milkshake
Like Chick-fil-A, Five Guys’ holiday shake also features a vanilla base with a minty flavor. The Candy Cane Crunch Milkshake features candy cane pieces and is topped with whipped cream and even more candy cane. Guests can also add other mix-ins like chocolate fudge or Oreo cookies to make their very own holiday creations. The shakes typically retail for $6.69.
Jack in the Box’s Noggy or Nice Biscoff Shake
Whether you’re “Noggy or Nice,” Jack in the Box has a shake for you. The chain’s holiday menu leans into one of the more controversial holiday flavors: eggnog. The Noggy or Nice Biscoff Shake features a vanilla base with swirls of eggnog flavor and biscoff cookie crumbs, topped with whipped cream. The shake comes in two sizes, regular and large, and retails around $4.39 and $4.89 respectively.
Shake Shack’s Christmas Cookie Shake
Shake Shack is back with another year of holiday flavors, and there are a lot to choose from. The Christmas Cookie Shake features a sugar cookie custard based, topped with whipped cream and red and green holiday sprinkles. A regular shake retails around $6.49.
Shake Shack’s Chocolate Yule Log Shake
Like the Christmas Cookie Shake (and in true Shake Shack fashion), the Yule Log Shake also features a frozen custard base. The chocolate custard is spun with pieces of chocolate cake and is topped with whipped cream, festive sprinkles, and cake crumbles. A regular Yule Log Shake also retails for $6.49.
Shake Shack’s Apple Cider Donut Shake
The third member of Shake Shack’s holiday trifecta is the Apple Cider Donut Shake. The frozen custard base is apple cider donut flavored, and the shake is topped with whipped cream, cinnamon, and donut crunch. A regular Apple Cider Donut Shake also retails around $6.49.
Sonic’s Red Velvet Batter Shake
Sonic’s Red Velvet Batter Shake is nothing short of decadent. The shake features a vanilla base blended with velvet cake batter, finished off with a rich red velvet cream cheese whipped topping and a cherry. Sonic shakes come in four size options: mini, small, medium, and large. A medium Red Velvet Batter Shake retails around $5.59.
