Foxtail Coffee: A Worthwhile Off-Campus Adventure!

The opinions expressed in this article are the author’s own and do not reflect the views of Spoon University.

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UFL chapter.

As the spring semester kicks off and Gainesville’s chilly weather lingers, finding the perfect study spot with even better coffee is crucial. Just a quick 13-minute drive down Archer, Foxtail Coffee is the cozy, caffeine-fueled escape you need. Though their holiday drink lineup might not be available for much longer, let me just say—it’s unmatched!

In December, we got the chance to review Foxtail’s holiday menu. Here are some Spoon-certified favorites to get you excited about their equally enticing year-round menu.

Chocolate Mint Matcha Latte

Matcha with peppermint syrup and chocolate drizzle

This drink was impressive, the presentation was definitely a 10/10. For anyone hesitant about matcha, this drink is the perfect introduction for a beginner. The mint overpowers the matcha flavor, making it taste more like a mint chocolate chip milkshake. It’s delicious and can be ordered hot or iced.

Peppermint Mocha Cold Brew with Peppermint Cold Foam

Nitro cold brew with mocha and peppermint syrup, topped with peppermint cold foam

Absolutely perfect for the winter season. The mocha and peppermint are a match made in heaven, while the cold brew balances out the sweetness from the cold foam. The peppermint cold foam, sprinkled with crushed peppermint pieces, delivers all the festive vibes. It’s ideal for a locked-in study session or a grab-and-go pick-me-up. No notes!

Gingerbread Dirty Chai Latte

Espresso with spiced chai and gingerbread syrup

We tried this drink hot, and I highly recommend ordering this way even if you typically go for iced. The chai brings the spice, while the gingerbread adds a cozy sweetness. I would consider it the ultimate cozy drink for a chilly day in Gainesville. The latte art was stunning; the baristas are so talented at Foxtail!  Whether you’re a chai fan or not, this drink will keep you coming back. If you’re more into coffee, try it as a regular latte—it would be delicious both ways!

If these drinks sound appealing to you even after the holiday season is over, I recommend experimenting with different combinations of their year-round syrups and sauces.

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin

Seasonal pumpkin muffin with a cream cheese center

Originally a fall item, this muffin was so popular they brought it back for winter—and I’m definitely not complaining! Served warm, the crispy top and fluffy interior are perfection. The cream cheese center balances the flavors beautifully. Dare I say, it’s better than the Starbucks version. Big enough to share, but you probably won’t want to!

Holiday Raspberry Donut

Soft donut filled with raspberry jelly, topped with white icing and festive sprinkles

Super festive and almost too pretty to eat, this donut is a decadent dessert. Foxtail makes their raspberry jam fresh every morning, and you can taste the homeyness and fresh ingredients. This would be a perfect celebration treat after acing an exam.

A huge thanks to the Foxtail staff for sharing their holiday menu with us. From cozy lattes to indulgent pastries, every item was a hit. Whether you need a change of scenery for studying or just want to treat yourself, Foxtail Coffee is the perfect off-campus getaway. The vibes are immaculate, and the coffee is even better!

Hey everyone! My name is Ashley Coe, and I'm originally from Chicago, Illinois. I am passionate about Public Relations and Entertainment. I’m a second-year student at UF, majoring in PR at the College of Journalism and Communications. Over the summer, I interned at Hifi Travel, working closely with the marketing and social media departments.

At UF, I’m also involved in Alpha PR, YLC, GEMS, PRSSA, and Alpha Delta Pi sorority. I love getting involved on campus and am always searching for new opportunities! For fun, my friends and I enjoy walking around Depot Park, tanning on our sundeck, and trying out new restaurants in Gainesville. When I’m home in Chicago, I love going shopping, playing tennis, and watching movies on the couch while cuddling with my adorable German Shepherd.

My favorite food and drinks in Gainesville include a vanilla iced latte from Opus, buffalo chicken dip from Swamp, and a salmon bowl from Fresh Kitchen!
