5 Teas from David’s Tea That You Need to Try This Winter

While many college students’ go-to beverage is coffee, tea has always been my #1. With flavors ranging from bold and spicy to fruity and sweet, it is easy to find a tea that can suit any of your cravings. My favourite tea store is David’s Tea because it carries all types of teas in every flavor imaginable, and the five teas listed here can all be purchased there. For a first time tea-drinker, or someone looking for something new to try, these five flavors all bring something different to the table and are worth checking out.

1. Main Squeeze (Maté)

Looking to kick that coffee addiction this semester? If so, give Main Squeeze a try. This citrusy maté is considered to be a stimulant, and will give you the same boost that a cup of coffee does. The main ingredients include pineapple, candied papaya, safflower, and natural orange flavoring, so this tea is really refreshing on a winter’s morning. The best thing about it is that it combines the caffeine of a coffee with the flavor of orange juice, so you can enjoy the best of both morning beverages in one drink.

2. Blueberry Jam (Black)

True to its name, Blueberry Jam really tastes like the sweet spread you put on your toast in the morning. This black tea features blueberries, elderberries and cornflower petals, and is pre-sweetened naturally with stevia. Sometimes black teas can be very strong, but Blueberry Jam is perfectly fruity and sweet and also low in caffeine, making it a great choice for any time of day. Feel free to add some milk, which will give the tea a creamy berry flavor reminiscent of a smoothie.

3. Detox (Green)

Struggling to keep that New Years Resolution of “getting healthy”? Although drinking David’s Detox tea can’t replace that trip to the gym we all know probably isn’t happening, this green tea does have some amazing health benefits that can make you feel (almost) as good as a workout will. Detox’s main ingredients are lemongrass, juniper berries, ginger and gingko with a green tea and rooibos base, so it is filled with antioxidants, and has a light, lemon flavor. I recommend drinking it in the afternoon — its low caffeine level and refreshing taste make it a great mid-day pick me up.

4. Cold 911 (Herbal)

If you’re suffering from a cold, or feel like one is coming on, this is the tea for you. Filled with peppermint, apples and juniper berries, this herbal tea is super potent and just one sip will make you feel instantly better. Although I am not claiming that this tea will cure your cold, its eucalyptus and mint flavoring will clear your sinuses for at least a little while. If you’re someone who gets sick frequently, I highly suggest adding this to your tea collection and sipping on it while snuggling up with Netflix on a sick day.

5. Birthday Cake (Rooibos)

Filled with sprinkles and ice cream pieces, this vanilla cake-flavored tea tastes as good as it sounds. This tea is perfect when you’re craving something sweet but don’t want to splurge on an actual piece of cake. Since it’s caffeine-free, you won’t be up all night on a sugar high after drinking it. As someone who considers themself to be a real dessert person, I can vouch for Birthday Cake tea living up to it’s name.
