From a gas station to its own lofty building on S Barnett Shoal Rd, Kique’s is one of the fastest growing restaurants in Athens. It’s a restaurant that deserves all the accolades and that’s why it gets its own spotlight during Hispanic Heritage Month.
Origins
The story of Kique’s Kitchen started off like any other: with a dream. The dream was to express Mexico’s rich culture through irresistible aromas and delicious flavors. Their philosophy of fresh, high-quality, and carefully selected ingredients makes customers feel safe and confident eating their food.
Mission Statement
Kique’s mission statement is for the customers to taste the richness in their flavors, find joy in every meal shared, and feel the warmth of their traditions. As a frequent customer of Kique’s Kitchen, I can say that they do exactly that through their extensive menu. Kique’s birria menu items are extremely popular. Their Birria Ramen, Birria Pizza, and Birria Fries draw customers in with their name, then keep them with their taste. Kique’s has everything one could ever want: nachos, tacos, quesadillas, burritos, desserts, and wings for those who want to play it safe.
My top 3 items
Horchata: As a rice milk lover, horchata is one of my favorite drinks and I get it every time I eat out at Mexican restaurants. Kique’s perfects this cinnamony, creamy beverage.
Quesabirria with consome: If you love a cheese pull, you have to try this. The quesabirria is popular for a reason. The tortilla is perfectly spiced and the consome adds some nice moisture. It’s a must try and will keep you coming back for more.
Ramen with Birria: This is a college student must have. The mixture of cheese, beef, and noodles is to die for. If you need to carb-load, you have the munchies, or just want to try something new, this is the menu item for you.

Kique’s options aren’t just limited to their menu. They have take out, dine-in, pick-up, and outdoor seating, and even catering packages, so there’s no excuse not to grab a tasty bite.
If you go to Kique’s, you’re sure to fall in love with the menu, staff, and layout. Next time, I’ll get the chimichangas and the flan.
