Julie's Restaurant, a Greek diner, is within short walking distance of Vassar's main campus, yet it doesn't get nearly as much press as many of the other local restaurants. Located next to Twisted Soul and across the street from the Juliet, it couldn't be more conveniently located for the hordes of college students living nearby.

The Ambiance

As soon as you walk in the door of 49 Raymond Ave, you can tell that the owner's care and love their customers. This Greek diner has photos of Greece on the walls and their menus are covered with family photos, from group shots to close ups of individual members. The menu items advertise classic Greek food with a twist. The dishes are often times named after people, giving another homey touch to the establishment.

The Menu

The menu offers a wide variety of choices from classic breakfast platters of pancakes, french toast, and Belgian waffles, to more adventurous omelettes and a whole variety of lunch and dinner options (if breakfast isn't your thing, or you don't wake up in time for it!)

The Food

When I went to Julie's I ordered a Greek omelette with feta cheese, tomatoes, and gyro meat, which was fantastic. My friend ordered a Belgian waffle with chocolate chips and ice cream—what better way to treat yourself after a hard week of classes than with ice cream for breakfast! Plus, we could afford all the food on a college student's budget.

The combination of the owners' charm, the community feel of the restaurant, and its proximity to campus make this a go-to breakfast spot for the Hudson Valley. If you're ever in the area, definitely check out Julie's Restaurant, it'll be worth it! (Bonus for Vassar students—they accept VCash).
