I have a confessed food weaknesses for everything from sushi to breakfast food, but sweets undeniably take the cake (pun intended).

But this Michigan junior hadn’t tried The Cupcake Station til this year. I know. For shame. Long overdue, I finally decided to scope out the selection of cupcakes this past week. This East Liberty sweet shoppe is the perfect place to quickly satisfy your craving for something sweet.

First off, as a lover of all things excessively sugary, I have always loved Halloween. Now, The Cupcake Station is fully decorated for the holiday, currently carrying limited-time Halloween cookies and cupcakes in addition to the 24 flavors they already bake fresh daily. After an eternity of contemplation — deciding which cupcakes to test is one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made — I selected the Halloween cupcakes and a few of their specialty flavors. Behold:

I can truly say that each cupcake was moist, fluffy and undeniably tasty. Call one otherwise, and I’ll call you a liar. These treats are super-sweet, so if you don’t like loads of icing and sugar, these cupcakes may not be for you.

After selecting several, if you have to choose one (or two), here are my picks: try the classic PB&C cupcake, which is a rich, dark-chocolate cake topped with peanut-butter buttercream frosting, peanut butter cups and chocolate shavings. I also was kind of obsessed with The Cupcake Station’s signature “bumpalicious” cupcake: a dark-chocolate cake, smooth buttercream “bumps” and fully dipped in chocolate. Gasp.

The only other bummer is, if you’re looking for a gluten-free treat, Cupcake Station does not have much for you. For all others, especially this Halloween, eat up.

Seriously. Put the candy bar down. Go with a cupcake instead.
