Looking for a relaxing, easy activity to do in place of studying? Hit up Sweetology in Clayton, where you can make your own cake and eat it too. I happened upon this cozy, cake decorating shop one weekend while procrastinating and instantly fell in love.

Sweetology not only makes delicious cakes and cookies, but lets you act like your own Cupcake Wars star and play with flavors and frostings. With a relaxed atmosphere, feel free to sip on one of their hand-crafted cocktails, coffees, or hot cocoas while working on your sugary masterpiece.

Begin your decorating journey by choosing the flavor of either your cake, cupcake, or cookie. I highly recommend the chocolate cupcake. It’s moist, fudgy, and definitely drool-worthy.

After you choose your base, get ready for a wave of giddy excitement as you turn the corner and see an entire wall of sprinkles. The store is equipped with every shape, size, and color sprinkle that will make you stand and gaze like an awestruck child. An impressive assortment of pre-made fondant designs, dyes, and flavors to tweak your frosting are also available.

If you started speaking with a Jersey accent, you have officially turned into Buddy Volastro from Cake Boss.

The cost of a trip to Sweetology is reasonable and is determined by how elaborately you choose to decorate, as each topping source is priced by weight…. so don’t go too sprinkle crazy.

Sweetology offers a fun activity to share with a few friends or bring an entire party. Along with walk-in decorating sessions, the shop also has cake decorating classes. In one hour, (depending on how long you can keep yourself from devouring your creation) you will become a skilled cake decorator and feel inspired to enter the next round of Cupcake Wars.

The best part is, once you are done decorating, you have a tasty treat to enjoy on the way home and most likely adorable pictures of you covered in frosting to post on Instagram. Now that’s pretty sweet.
