It’s all fun and games until the middle of the semester approaches and the professors feel the need to test the students on every detail they’ve learned since syllabus week. The days of enjoying college life come to a screeching halt and students are reminded the reason they are here. Never fear, because students can find comfort and relief in calories. Here’s how to make the midterms bearable.

How you feel:  There is absolutely no time to finish reviewing all twenty chapters before your 9am exam tomorrow.

The Fix: It’s a miracle Jimmy John’s delivers until 2am because there is no time to leave the library and take a stroll to Green Street. These fresh sandwiches will provide procrastinating students with the energy they need for their all-nighter. With all of the turkey, lettuce, and tomato they’re not too unhealthy (even if they’re covered in mayo – but hey, you deserve it.)

How you feel: It’s 2am and your brain is in panic mode. You’ve been staring at the same page of lecture notes for about two hours now and nothing is sinking in.

The fix: Insomnia Cookies- Open until 3am, Insomnia offers a variety of warm cookies to students who desire a sugar rush. Since these sweet treats can be delivered to your door they take little to no time away from studying. The comfort and deliciousness of a cookie will remind you that there are still good things in life and that this horrible night will be over soon.

Alternative fix: Microwave Cookie in a Cup

How you feel: You’re depressed. The midterm isn’t for three days but the adult in you makes you feel guilty if you do anything but study.

The Fix: You have some time to kill so you can spend it making filling chips and guacamole!  Guacamole is not only addicting and tasty but according to science, the monounsaturated fatty acids found in avocados help protect nerve cells in the brain.

How you feel: You need something that will calm your nerves because this is the third test you’ve had in one week.

The Fix: Homemade Easy Mac. There’s only one thing you need to know about artificially colored orange powder; and it’s that you shouldn’t be eating it. This famous American comfort food will be sure to bring you relief.
