6 Quick Dorm Breakfasts for the Late College Kid

Many college students choose those ten extra minutes of sweet, sweet sleep over breakfast before class. This is completely understandable. I, too, have fallen for the lure of sleep only to suffer through class day-dreaming about how to make vegetarian stir fry in 15 minutes when I should be thinking about Immanuel Kant. Don't neglect breakfast during your morning routine. Here are 6 quick dorm breakfasts that take under 7 minutes to make.

1. Scrambled Eggs in the Microwave

While making eggs in the microwave sounds incredibly sketchy, I tried it out myself and they tasted almost just as they do off the frying pan. At a prep time of three minutes, these microwaveable scrambled eggs are perfect for dorm life.

2. French Toast in the Microwave

Equally as strange as scrambled eggs, this microwavable french toast recipe will pleasantly surprise you. I made this quick dorm breakfast in about seven minutes. Feel free to add toppings of your choice.

3. Overnight Oats

I got the idea for these from my sister, who is also a college student. Just throw plain oatmeal, yogurt, milk and fruit in a cup and mix it around. After a night in the fridge, these healthy ingredients combine to make a quick and refreshing breakfast.

4. Instant Oatmeal with Fruit

This breakfast saved my butt my first semester of college. Mix together instant oatmeal and fruit—it's pretty self-explanatory.

5. Almonds

While this snack may come as a surprise appearance on a breakfast list, almonds are great for combating hunger as well as many other health benefits. They are loaded with protein and fiber, which serve to increase fullness. Pair these nuts with a whole fruit and you're good to go.

6. Belvita Banana Bread

Recommended by a friend, these Belvita Banana Bread biscuits are definitely one of the easier quick dorm breakfasts out of this list. Prepackaged and full of nutrients, this grab-and-go breakfast will satisfy any morning appetite.
