As a self-proclaimed picky coffee critic, I cherish handcrafted drinks that skillfully balance the concentrated simplicity of cold brews and the creamy smoothness of lattes. Philz has mastered this equilibrium, and easily rose in ranks as one of my favorite coffee spots. According to Sadarangani, this carefully handcrafted drink accounts for “30% of all Philz orders.” If you’re craving an airy pick-me-up, this refreshing cup is a must-try. Unlike some overpowering, artificial mint flavors, the iced mint mojito stays true to the refreshing essence of pure mint leaves. So even for mint chip haters, I promise the Mint Mojito falls far from the basic polarizing toothpaste-y taste. It’s truly a unique creation that deserves a try–it’s a hit for a reason!

Honey lovers unite–this top creation surely will satisfy your honey cravings. Many “honey” lattes in the coffee world fall short of highlighting the specific golden sweetness our bees create. A lovely subtly sweet, floral, and fragrant twist on a classic coffee, the iced coffee rose takes the cake as my go-to Philz order. Prepared “Philz Way” (medium sweet and medium creamy), this enchanting creation starts with a deliciously fluffy cream topping that primes you for the goodness underneath. Below this airy layer lies a lightly sweetened caffeinated brew with a delicate rose tone. The rose flavor gracefully complements the coffee, and gives a unique floral twist that will revitalize your tastebuds.

Oatmeal Cookie (Photographer’s Favorite!)

Surprise! If you didn’t already know, Philz offers a secret menu that not many are aware of. One standout gem from this menu is the Oatmeal Cookie creation. This drink is on the sweeter side, yet captures the essence of a classic oatmeal cookie without the overpowering sweetness central to other “cookie” flavored drinks. It emphasizes the smoky richness of oats while allowing the smooth coffee blend to shine through. The Oatmeal Cookie creation is reminiscent of a waffle cone, or a fresh cookie from your local bakery (compared to excessively sugary grocery store counterparts).

From the CEO, Mahesh Sadarangani

Our encounter with Philz’s CEO during his chance visit was a wonderful delight. As the ultimate Philz expert, we couldn’t resist getting a glimpse of his Philz favorites, and we’re excited to share them with you!

Swearing by 2 coffees a day, Sadarangani starts his day at 4 AM with an Ether coffee bean blend, which gives him the ultimate caffeinated kickstart. For his mid-afternoon pick-me-up, he enjoys a Philtered Soul Brew with creamy oat milk and no sugar. When in the mood for a flavorful twist, he stands by the Iced Mint Mojito, “House Way” (sweet and creamy). He advocates that everyone should try it at least once in their life–and even jokingly mentioned he’d buy it for you himself!
