Students and Nashvillians alike absolutely adore Vandy’s Grins Vegetarian/Kosher Cafe. However, the menu can be rather limited and frankly, the lack of meat can leave you starved. Here are some great options to make sure you don’t leave this Kosher, vegetarian establishment unhappy:

1. Break your fast

The apple pbg breakfast wrap is delicious heated up, but if you’re looking to cut back on those calories you can order your favorite meal unwrapped. The extra yogurt that comes on the side is always an added bonus and if you are feeling particularly hungry you can order a bowl of oatmeal as a side.

2. That’s an unwrap

Ask for your superfood unwrapped in a to-go container. They always give you more super-healthy veggies and you can shake it up like a salad with the dressing of your choice. (Hint: ask for balsamic vinegar if you’re looking for a healthier option). Next, politely ask to add your favorite cheese, some spiced apples or maybe even a cut up veggie burger patty if you’re extra hungry. Bonus: they usually forget to charge you extra for this.

3. Let’s tac-o about those potatoes

Ask for the sweet potato tacos with no shell or brown rice. If the sweet potatoes, pickled onions and cabbage combo is not filling enough for you, add a veggie burger and spiced apples for a unique option that is sure to satisfy your hunger. Pro tip: ask for salsa on the side.

4. The sweetest wrap you’ll ever have

Speaking of sweet potato tacos, my favorite Grins connoisseur came up with her own creative order that is sure to annoy your cashier when you check out. Ask for your sweet potato tacos in a wrap, but don’t stop there. Add quinoa, tomato, cucumber and avocado for a warm, comforting alternative to your basic superfood.

5. Say cheese

Everyone loves a classic grilled cheese to satisfy that inner-child craving. To spice up this classic option, add avocado and tomato. Yum!

Seriously though, who needs meat when you have Grins on your Vandy meal plan?
