So, you’ve caved and bought your Stanley cup, thanks to the relentless recommendations swirling around social media. It keeps your water cold, and that’s great and all, but what now? Enter WaterTok.

What is WaterTok?

To jazz up their new reusable cups, the water enthusiasts of TikTok have decided to make water fun, creating concoctions with flavored syrups or powders and, you guessed it, water. With flavors ranging from peach ring to birthday cake, these creators have found innovative ways to sweeten up their water and meet their daily hydration goals.

While some have argued that these flavor-filled water cocktails are nothing more than juice or chemical-ridden mixes — most of the flavorings are sugar and calorie-free — WaterTok creators insist that for people who don’t like the natural taste of water, these mixes are essential in helping them stay healthy and hydrated. In fact, some are treating these water recipes as soda alternatives to help them cut down on sugary drinks and ultimately lose weight. Think of it as a low-calorie KoolAid, the original flavored water.

Whatever your stance is on WaterTok, it’s hard to deny that these water recipes are quite creative. We’ve found a couple of popular ones to give you an idea of what WaterTok creators are drinking on the daily.

The best WaterTok recipes on TikTok

Pina Colada Water by @takingmylifebackat42

Tonya Spanglo, better known on TikTok as @takingmylifebackat42, is one of the biggest creators on WaterTok. In this video, she makes a piña colada-flavored water using a Crush pineapple-flavored powder packet and three pumps of coconut-flavored syrup. Spanglo is known for her water recipes that have helped her stay hydrated after weight-loss surgery and for her partnership with Skinny Mixes, a company that creates many of the syrups she features in her videos.

Peach Ring Water by @caliwonderland

TikTok user @caliwonderland is also popular on WaterTok. One of her most viewed recipes is her peach ring water, which includes a Sunkist peach-flavored powder packet, a pump of cherry-flavored syrup, and a pump of peach-flavored syrup. Her followers are definitely enticed by the aesthetic of her videos, complete with her endless array of pastel-colored Stanley cups.

Birthday Cake Water by @thewatergal_

Now, I’ve heard of birthday cake-flavored ice cream and cookies, but water? That’s a new one. Aptly named @thewatergal_, this TikTok creator prefaces that her recipe was originally created by another WaterTok creator, @sweetbutsnarky. Nevertheless, @thewatergal_’s birthday cake water video has gone viral, amassing 1.3 million views. The recipe? Four pumps of cotton candy-flavored syrup and three pumps of vanilla almond-flavored syrup.

While I’m planning on sticking with my regular water routine, there’s no doubt that anything that helps people stay hydrated and drink more water is likely a positive thing. Although I won’t be joining WaterTok anytime soon, it’s definitely fun to see all the water recipes out there, and I’m glad those looking to meet their hydration goals in a fun new way have found a community on TikTok.
