People say that we live in a revolutionary world where technological miracles such as artificial intelligence and life in space are fact; a time when people cannot stop advancing themselves with every passing day.

I know that inventions, such as smart houses, robots and self-driving vehicles are stuff that are supposed to fascinate me...and they kind of do.

However, something that is still low-key blowing my mind is that there are not only social media influencers who have more power over the public than empires, such as Audi, Hilton, and Whole Foods, but that we live in a world where there are agencies for social media influencers. That’s right–not only influencers, but agencies for them, with real people working there…on real computers…using the aforementioned innovations I should really be amazed by, if I weren’t so busy freaking out over these agencies.

What's a social media influencer?

A creative individual who has more than 1K followers on one or multiple social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, and who is considered "an expert" on a certain topic. They have so much power over us!

What do social media influencer agencies do?

The premise of influencer marketing is to be the middleman between corporations and influencers: they find the perfect influencer for a company’s campaign, who would promote a certain product/event/service to their own circle of followers.

How mind-blowing right?! We live in such great times!

So, let’s come to the point. Some of the most popular social media influencers are–by no surprise–the food and health bloggers/Instagramers/vloggers.

1. Deliciously Ella

1.1 million Instagram followers, 408K Pinterest followers

About Ella: Almost everybody who cares about a healthy and hearty life knows her (and absolutely every Spoon reader should too!). This is Ella, Deliciously Ella.

She is young, has beautiful blue eyes, and, as she says herself, is “working to make vegetables cool.” Her love story with food began when she found out she had a very serious illness. This made her pay more attention to what she was eating, and how she cared about her body.

So far, Ella has created an amazingly successful blog and an app, has written a cookbook, has opened a chain of MaE delis for organic food with her husband Matthew (#bestcouple2017), and continues to succeed with her growing companies.

Food Philosophy: vegetarian, wheat and refined sugar-free, but, as she claims, "It’s not about diet or deprivation; there’s no one size that fits all, and everything I do can be adapted to suit you.”

2. Melissa Hie from "Girl Eat World"

390K Instagram followers

About her, the “Girl:” Melissa used to be a poor and not-very-adventurous college student (like most of us) until she decided that she needed a change, and moved to Singapore alone. This journey gave start to her passion for traveling, food, and blogging. God bless Singapore (random fact: did you know that chewing gum is illegal there?).

So far, she has eaten her way through 35 countries in total, and that’s just for the last 6 years. Her posts usually include her hand carrying something super delicious-looking with the background of a beautiful scenery from the next intriguing country she's found herself visiting.

Food Philosophy: Everything that is new, foreign, interesting, colorful, and fun to eat/photograph/carry around in your hand.

As they say: “Our mission is to share with you the best dang places to get your grub (and drink) on in NYC and beyond.”
