It's meat! It's a burger! No, it's Impossible Burger here to save the day! The Impossible Burger is one of the newest breakthroughs in vegan foods. Made of plant proteins, coconut oil, and an iron-rich molecule called heme, this revolutionary plant-based burger is served up around the United States (yes, Hawaii, no not Alaska) and tastes just like the real thing! The iron meaty taste not only originates from the wheat/potato protein texture, but also from the substance known as "heme." Heme is a molecule common in animal muscle, but also found in plants. Through the process of fermentation, heme makes the Impossible Burger both look and taste like real meat. Since the average cook does not have access to such ingredients as potato/wheat protein and heme, we used mushrooms for the meaty texture and beets for the dark red color of heme. Thus, this veggie burger is the home-version of the famous Impossible Burger, with the meatiness of mushrooms and the bloodiness of beetroot. Enjoy!
