Gerts is Helping You Celebrate Oktoberfest Without Breaking the Bank

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at McGill chapter.

The best part of the year is here; the leaves are changing, the air is getting crisper, and we’re all saving up our money for when we all get together and celebrate…German unity day and King Ludwig’s marriage in 1810. While we have our time to brag in late August about the 3,220 cases of beer that OAP sold in nine days in 2014, Munich gets eternal bragging rights about the 7.7 million liters of beer sold over 14 days at 2013 Oktoberfest.

Luckily, our very own Gerts is celebrating Oktoberfest the McGill way, with cheap tickets and big beers. For ten dollars you get a ticket in, steins for seven dollars (that’s a LITER of beer), a souvenir glass, and loads more. And you don’t have to worry about making sure to eat before you show up, because half the fun of Oktoberfest is stuffing yourself with pretzels and apple cake.

So in honor of the coming day where we devote ourselves to drinking beer, heres a power rank (by type of beer) of all of the draft beers at Gerts, ranked by our very own staff.

Looking for an even cheaper drink deal, or maybe you just want to move the party? If you’re up for a stroll down to Atwater, the market will be throwing a massive Oktoberfest celebration that includes 3 small beers for $1.
