When the weather gets warmer and the school year ends, we start to look forward to barbecues and grilling outdoors. Some of my favorite things about summer include eating grilled cheeseburgers at barbecues and enjoying the smell of grilling meat in the air.
But you don’t need a grill to enjoy these burgers. With a little bit of food coloring and some sesame seeds, you can turn some cupcakes into cute tasty treats that are sure to be a hit at summer barbecues.

Make cupcakes as directed on the box. Use baking spray to grease the cupcake pan thoroughly. Do not use cupcake liners.
When the vanilla cupcakes are cool, cut them in half horizontally. They will be the “bun.”
When the chocolate cupcakes are cool, cut them in half horizontally. The bottom half will serve as the “meat.”
Mix food coloring with the frosting to create the “ketchup” and “mustard.”
Mix green food coloring with some of the coconut until it is lightly green. This will be the “lettuce.”
Put the meat on the bottom half of the vanilla cupcake. Put the ketchup, mustard and lettuce on top of the “meat.”
Lightly sprinkle the top half of the cupcake with water, then sprinkle it with sesame seeds. Add the “top bun” to the rest of the burger.
