When you're a braces-clad teenager like me, there are several foods you're more or less discouraged from eating every time you visit the orthodontist. Whether it's sticky and gooey or hard to the crunch, you can risk damaging a bracket or wire—even if you promise to be careful

The biggest no-no food of them all, however, would have to be caramel apples. Coated in caramel sauce and hardened to a T, these apples can lead to any oral patient's worst nightmare—especially for those of us with braces. So how can you get your caramel-apple fix this fall without taking a seat in the dentist chair?

Try caramel apple nachos, an easy-to-make dessert that's sensitive to the teeth and, just like the traditional treat, totally customizable.
