What’s better than the smell of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies? Not much. As college students, though, it’s usually hard to find the time to get your baking on. Four Flours Baking Company right here in New Haven, Connecticut has a solution to that.

This baking company just opened its newest storefront on Chapel Street (about a 5 minute walk from main campus). If it’s your first visit, I’d highly recommend trying a cookie. Whether you decide to try the Sugar Cookie, Toffee Coffee Crunch, Chocolate Chunk with Flax Seeds, or Oatmeal Cranberry with White Chocolate, you won’t be disappointed.

My personal favorite was the Chocolate Chunk with Flax Seeds. It’s a nice alternative to your typical chocolate chip cookie—the added flax seeds definitely improve the consistency: a perfect balance between chewy and crunchy. And, on top of that, you don’t feel so guilty knowing that the flax seeds make the cookie healthy.

Four Flours offers much more than just cookies, though. Its extensive collection of baked goods includes fresh-out-of-the-oven brownies, biscotti, muffins, breads and granola.

If you don’t think you can finish everything you want to eat in one sitting (even though you probably can), don’t worry. A lot of these items are pre-packaged, so you can take them back to your dorm room and eat them when that sweet tooth hits you.

And if you can’t make it to Four Flours, be on the lookout for their Chillwich Truck. This food truck rolls around selling one of Four Flours’s hottest (or coldest) items: the Chillwich. These ice cream cookie sandwiches are a big seller. So, get ‘em while they’re cold!
