Doesn't it get boring having birthday cake year after year? Your annual trip around the sun calls for something new to celebrate. This year, go for birthday cake churro fries instead
Birthday cake churro fries are going to change celebrations as you know it. They have some of the same components of birthday cake such as frosting and sugar, but, they're also fried. And we all know everything is better once it's fried.
Birthday Cake Churro Fries
- Prep Time:15 mins
- Cook Time:20 mins
- Total Time:35 mins
- 1 cup water
- 2 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons sprinkles
- 1 quart oil for frying
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- Canned frosting
In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Stir on a medium heat until it comes to a boil. Remove from heat.
Stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball.
Knead the sprinkles into the dough. Since the mixture is hot, the sprinkles will melt and create a marble pattern.
Heat oil in a pot until it reaches 375°F. If you don't have a thermometer, wait until the oil bubbles around a wooden spoon.
Put the mixture into a piping bag, and pipe into small strips.
Place a few strips at a time into the pot, and fry until golden. Put them on paper towels to drain.
Roll the churros in the remaining 1/3 cup of sugar.
Put the canned frosting into a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for 15 seconds, or until the frosting is smooth and creamy. Dip birthday cake churro fries in the frosting and enjoy.
The best thing about these churros is how customizable they are. With a piping bag as your tool, you can create all kinds of shapes. Numbers for your new age, letters for your name, or shapes if you're feeling super creative.
